I installed ny engine last week end and put the headers on just to see and they fit perfect, plenty of clearance with the steering box and did not hang below the sub frame. I tried to remove plugs and that was not a problem even with the angle plug AFR's i have. I used thier steped headers and went with the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 primary tubes with 3" colectors. The fitment and finish were geat i am very happy. Mike zdld17 Jan 30th, 09, 05:43 AM I just removed a 3 year old set of TriY's that fit great on AFR heads. I went to larger heads that required a larger exhaust port header, went to Dougs D368. Both of these are long tube headers and fit very well. Dave69Z Jan 30th, 09, 08:34 AM I have heddman coated 15/8 full length headers. they fit good and clear my manual steering box by about 1/4 inch. Never had any leaks and they've been on for 5 years now. They are in a 69z with a vortec headed 350 and a mucie 4 speed. I had to reverse the clutch pedal return spring so that it could be used, but it works. 67SS&99SS Jan 30th, 09, 11:15 PM I just removed a 3 year old set of TriY's that fit great on AFR heads. YUP THOSE ARE GOOD:hurray: z28rich Jan 31st, 09, 01:11 PM I talked to the guys at dynatech and he said they have a header that works with no problems.he told me to use 1 3/4-1 7/8 header for the 302 Richard:beers: mike's blue67 Jan 31st, 09, 03:16 PM I dont know about the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 on a 302. I would go with the smaller 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 to try and keep some tourqe on the lower end since the dont have much any way below 4500 rpm. I use the larger on a 406 with 520 HP and 525 ft lbs of tourqe so i had plenty down low. I thought about keeping it small untill i measured my exhaust ports and they were a hare larger the 1 5/8 so thats why i went with the larger. My Dyna tech's fit great. No issues at all. Let me know how it goes. z28rich Jan 31st, 09, 03:55 PM Mike,is your car a auto or stick? zdld17 Jan 31st, 09, 04:10 PM I think 1 3/4 or 1 7/8" primary tubes on a 302 is an over kill unless you have all the good stuff and run motor at 8500 all day long and wear a funny looking hat or from Malvern, Pa. Go for the smaller tubes for street or show. 4sspd69 Jan 31st, 09, 04:45 PM This thread may help: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=148142&highlight=thorley mike's blue67 Feb 1st, 09, 07:53 AM Mike,is your car a auto or stick? Rich, my car is a speed now, iam in the middle of converting it to a 5 speed. novaderrik Feb 1st, 09, 01:24 PM what would be be like with an HEI? my firewall was smashed in with a hammer to fit it in there then you have the 302/350 mounts. Gary L Feb 1st, 09, 01:32 PM Thorley Tri-Ys w/o a doubt. Makes them run great and plenty of ground/engine bay clearance. CS3 Auto Feb 1st, 09, 01:57 PM I talked to the guys at dynatech and he said they have a header that works with no problems.he told me to use 1 3/4-1 7/8 header for the 302 Richard:beers: I have nothing but positive feedback with the Dougs d368's, but I'm currently out of stock. I'm still waiting on someone to give me feedback on the dynatech's. I do have 1 set of the coated 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 headers in stock. I have free shipping on the Dynatech headers also. http://cs3automotive.com/index.php?a=PROD:988 The one thing I dont like about the dynatech's is that the reducers dont come with the headers and you will need to purchase them. They have a 4 bolt pattern vs the old style 3 bolt pattern. I have both the 2-1/2" or the 3" in stock. 2-1/2" http://cs3automotive.com/index.php?a=PROD:990 3" http://cs3automotive.com/index.php?a=PROD:991 Harleyguy Feb 1st, 09, 06:15 PM have a set of Hooker super comp 2207's that I would like to use for my small block build up --does anyone know how they fit before I spend to have them ceramic coated. :beers: |
