Dear Friends,

My friend just bought a 1990 Camaro, and it has a V6. I presume that it is the 3.1L V6. He wants to add performance parts onto his engine...he is aware that he could go with a v8 instead. But what if he wants to keep the v6? What can he do to add horsepower?

I have dabbled a little bit- I was thinking that he could install a cam in his engine....and K&N air filters, and flowmaster mufflers. But what else? Anything? What about MSD? Is there a computer chip for v6's?

What is available for his car's motor? Please make suggestions or list them. Thanks!

Yours truly,

Blade

Blade,
I have a 1990 v-6 with the 3.1 and there isn't much for that engine. Your friend has to watch out for the fact the there are two different v-6 types. One is a 90 degree engine and the other is a 60 degree engine, and you no, I forget what the 3.1 is, but it's the odd ball. I have a GM Performance book at home and there is not much available for the 3.1 as for cams, intakes, headers. I decided to leave mine alone, but you can increase performance by adding a bigger cold air intake system, better igniton system, exhaust system, and I heard about a few more mod's but can't remember them. Visit www.thirdgen.org (http://www.thirdgen.org) they can teach you a lot.
Good luck
