I have a '69 Camaro that I am wanting to run mid 6s in 1/8th and high 9s or low 10s in 1/4. The track close to me is an 1/8th but this car will be mostly street driven. It has a 350/350 combo now but I am going to 454 with 200r4 trans. What kind of hp do I need to look to get to? Also what cam/heads/torque converter/gears to use.
Thanks in advance for your help

If its around 3300lbs like mine, then it will take 600-625hp to run those #s, if its a decent set up car.

Id almost consider building a nitrous motor for the best possible blend of a streetable motor along with fast track times. Build a 468 thats streetable and runs about an 11.60, yet set it up to take a 200-250 horsepoer hit of the juice. That oughta set you into the 9's, and when your at the track it will do what you want it to do, but when you drive home, you dont have to deal wit the headaches of a nasty, all motor 600+horsepower engine. It takes a lot to go nines, and it takes a lot more to be able to make it faithfully work on the street. However, it doesnt take nearly as much to keep a mid 11 second motor going on the street and then keep it together with a descent shot at the track to run the number you want. Better send that 200r4 tranny somewhere good to get it fixed up, otherwise youll break it if you get into the 14's.
