Well I just bought my first 1st gen camaro. It has been setting for a while. I started to drive it home and sometime when you rev it up or between shifts the brakes come on. You can see the pedal go down.

You take off and you push in the clutch and when the engine is rev down and you are not given it any gas the brakes come on.

I plugged off the booster and it has not down it sence. I have never heard of this. To much vacuum or booster is shot???

I will checking it out this weekend, just wondering what you guys think it is.

Probably a bad valve in the booster. This might help: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/brakes/brake-types/power-brake1.htm

Trust me, it won't be the last think you'll need to fix :-) At least you were able to drive it home. That's way ahead of all the ones I've bought over the years.

It is always more helpfull to describe the vehicle, year and model you are asking about so folks know what their dealing with...

The air control valve circuit is malfuntioning allowing atmospheric pressure into the chamber during off-pedal operation.
Adjust/Repair/Replace the booster to fix.

(edit) sorry, someone answered before me...

When I installed my power disc/durm set-up I had a similar issue.... found to be the rod at the brake pedal was in the wrong hole and needed adjustment.

I bought it cause its rust free. The guy I bought it from it was in his garage for 18 years. And before that it was in a garage in Barstow California. I traded my sportster and alittle to boot. And it has 2 little bumpers that come down on the rear bumper. I dont really care for the look of them and I dont see alot of them with them. Are they anything?

They were standard on 1967 Camaros - you could optional larger guards also.
You're probably seeing restored 67's where they were left off - or 1968's that never had them to begin with
They magicly reappeared on 69's again also ;)
Nice looking car

You might want to visit the "Tag Team" forum and post up your Cowl Tag information - someone will be glad to decode what options it had and other information about your car for you.

You can visit the Camaro Research Group for more information on First Generation Camaros - http://www.camaros.org/index.shtml

This thread brought this picture to mind........."Bats Over Barstow" by Ralph Steadman, and was the cover art for the original hardcover of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"
