What are the vents in the cowl panel for? I see a fiberglass version of this panel without vents and it looks good smoothed out.
Pros and cons of a smooth cowl??
The panel between the hood and front glass, in case I have the wrong name for that piece.
Thanks.

its the car vents, air come in at the base of the windshield and gos around in to the tulips panel and out the kick panels by your feet or go in to the heater and ac by the fan
Oh, I almost for got rain.......
Rain go in the vent at the base of the windshield and gos around in to the tulips panel and out the rocker at the back by the rear tires on the inside of the rockers

Pros and cons of a smooth cowl??
Pros: None
Cons: No air to the high-level (Astro) vents, no air to the kickpad vents, no air to the heater, no air to the A/C system.
:beers:

To relate to what JohnZ said......
I rode in a '69 last year that had heater A/C delete with the cowl and firewall smoothed. There was NO airflow except with the windows open. The car looked sharp enough but, Well, at 90 deg in midday sun it was MISERABLE. Later in the evening it cooled off with a rain shower. There was so much fog on the inside of the windshield you couldn't see. Not very drivable if you ask me!! I guess that is a con. Jb

Great input..
Sounds like the smoothed cowl would be for cars that dont get much street use.
Thanks.
