I saw a 69 Z28 today Glacier Blue ( code 53 ) and it had Interior Trim code 716 Deluxe Blue. The Vin tag was Black and the top of the dash was Blue, It Really Made the Vin standout.
Is that Correct?

i did some research on this and for a norwood car i think it's supposed to be the dash color in your case blue....not sure about los cars though or if there is a time frame for this.

This Norwood Z28 is a frame off Resto, I know the guy real well and the vin was never removed as well as the cowl tag. I stressed that to him a lot before the car went to the body shop not to remove both tags as it just creates too much controversy as too rebody etc. He has pictures throughout the paint/body etc and the tags were never touched. According to The paint guy, he repainted the dash, but masked off the vin tag, and then just shot a little satin clear on it after to make it look crisp. He also has pictures of all the hidden vins for his documentation through out the resto. This car was 1/2 apart before my friend purchased it and this is the way the tag was when he got the car.
I just thought it a little weird? that the vin tag was black and the top of the dash was blue, but I have never payed attention before.

All dashmounted VIN tags are black. The dash was painted by Fisher (at Norwood and in the paintshop at LOS) before the tag was installed by GM.

I disagree. I have seen both black VIN tags and VIN tags painted to match the dash on cars with non-black interiors. Many years ago [30?] I stumbled upon on a Norwood car built on the first day of production in junkyard. The VIN tag was painted blue prior to installation. I have also seen them in green and red. Same suede finish as the dash top; dipped or e-coated black prior to the suede top coat.

Let me start by saying, I know this thread is over a year old. I just recently purchased a 69 glacier blue with standard medium blue interior that has never been restored. I have been trying to get info on medium/dark blue interior and ran across this thread.

Its a Norwood car and the dash vin tag is black with a dark blue dash panel.
