Most of the machine shops I speak to either a) don't speak english or b) can't help me.
I'm looking to have my upper mounting boss on my drum spindles machined down to accept disc brakes, and to have the hubs ground down to fit into the rotor hats.
Anyone know of anyone down in South East Florida (miami-dade/broward) that can help me?
Thanks!

FWIW, I had a brake shop cut down my hubs and ground the spindle bosses down myself VERY CAREFULLY. That was 25,000 miles ago with no issues.

How did you grind the spindles? And was it a commercial brake shop?

I ground the spindles with a 4.5" hand held grinder and checked for depth and squareness very frequently. The brake shop was just a local shop that had a brake lathe.

Yeah, it was pretty shade tree - but it worked out just fine.
To the OP: It sounds like you're doing a C5/LS1 brake conversion. If you are, Speed Tech makes an adapter that doesn't require the drum brake mounting boss be ground down.

Thats about how I "machined" my turbo 400 to put a extra clutch in the drums. Took an a while on the brake lathe, To turn the outside of the hub should be easy to any
"old shade tree'" telling is the problem
