i think u should backoff a little on the cam, then u can take a lower stall convertor as well, so u can take more advantage of the rpmrange with that rearend

comp recomends a 3000 stall for the 286 as well as 4.10 gears. I figured I should go with a little more cam since I have the afr's.

I like the combo at first glance. Looks good to me. I ran a similar setup with ported fuelie heads and a 284 cam with 3.73 gears and LOVED it! Pulled hard from 3000 on up. It should run even better with the upgraded heads and slightly steeper gears. smile.gif

I am running a similar combo AFR's, 4:10 - except my cam is comps XE series, 230/236@50 487/490 lift with a 4spd. Love the set up, car pulls like a SOB from 3000 to 6000. The only change I would make since I went thruough this buils is I would got solid.

Cool, looks like you went with the 274 extreme??
I already have the 286 comp installed. Do you guys think its worth it to pull it and go with the 282 soild??

If you were to pull it I would seriously consider the XS282s - specs are 282/288 adv duration, 244/252* @ .050 lift, .520/.540" lift, 110* LSA, 106 ICL.
IMO the 286 is OK and matches everything, you just might get some more out of a solid on the top end and better TQ on the low end.
Good combo graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks Eric! I just might do it! Are you running this cam??

No, I run the Magnum 294s - I needed some extra seat-to-seat duration because I am pushing the limits with a 11.3:1 compression ratio and pump gas.
The Extreme solid cam line is pretty new; the XS282s has a much shorter seat-to-seat duration with roughly the same .050 duration as my 294s.
