I bought this car in 2001 as a father/son project. Then found another 69 Camaro that I could not pass on for the son. College, get the Chevelle painted, now the wife says get the Camaro done.:hurray: "Those Chevelle seats are not as comfortable as I remember" she said, after a 600 mile road trip. I am all but done with the mini tubs, have 335/35/17's on Billet specialties vintecs. Have the LT-1 and 6 speed in the car and 9 inch rear end. I put the front fender and door on to get a good visual on how the car should sit. I know it will drop about 1 1/2 or 2 inches. It's looking so cool. IMHO.

It was lemans blue. X44, 307 powerglide. That was all gone when I got it. I am thinking Silver or Gun metal gray with black Z stripes.

I know. But I am just like any other married guy, I just do what I'm told. The wife said get it done, but I get to pick the color. She picked the color on my Chevelle and that turned out good. I used to be of the opinion that ALL cars look best orange, but I'm OK with silver and black. The Chevelle is a real SS Now has 454 and 6 speed. So cool 75MPH/ 2000 RPM.

No, It's a Grant. It's got a kind of funky plastic cover that covers the spokes.

joe nice ride good luck,,,what kind of headers ya have in there?

Another69
Feb 28th, 09, 08:00 AM
The headers are hedman Elite. They would not fit with an 80 something Iroc steering box. I had to use rack and pinion, so the headers would fit. Shhh... don't tell my wife.
This weekend get the pinion angle set and prep the bottom for Raptor pick up bed liner next weekend.

Sprayed the Raptor bed liner. I think it came out good.

It's been a while since I have posted. I had to overhaul the motor :(. Well it's sitting there ready to go in, you can see the spun rod bearing material on the crank on the left.http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Pictures2009Camaro034.jpg
I have the trunk cleaned up and painted with with duplicolor trunk spatter paint.http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Pictures2009Camaro030.jpg
And today I shot the color on the firewall and bottom of the trunk lid. The pictures don't really do the color justice:noway:. My wife really knows how to pick color:beers: as I said before, she picked the color on the Chevelle and it turned out alright.http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Pictures2009Camaro038.jpghttp://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Pictures2009Camaro036.jpg.
Well Ive got to start on the drip rails that I removed to get that straightened out, and then shoot color on all of the jambs. So much work so little time.

What color blue is on the chevelle?

Another69
Apr 24th, 09, 01:31 PM
Its 2001 Ford Taurus Royal Blue. I know but I didn't pick the color my wife did. That was the deal I get to paint the car at home in the garage, she gets to pick the color. I think she did it on purpose.
The color she picked for the Camaro is from Freight liner Trucks.

Well still making progress. Got the motor in,brake master cylinder in,hydraulic clutch hooked up and working, and rear disc brakes on. I still need to run the brake lines.
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Camaro5-09004.jpg
I used "blind nuts" from Menard's to install the clutch cylinder reservoir.
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Camaro5-09009.jpg
I had to modify some race car disc brake brackets to bolt onto the rear end housing. They came out really good.
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Camaro5-09008.jpg
I ended up using a long sanding block and sanding lightly on the edges to mark the high spots, do a little grinding, priming and do it over again. Probably the wrong way to do it but it's been working for me.http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/JSharpj2/Camaro5-09010.jpg.
The more I get done the more that needs to be done.

Your making good time, keep it up! I did my total resto in exactly 12 months by myself.Being laid off for a few months helped.I like to see the people who have the determination to stay with a project and to show their kids how a little hard work and "stick-to-it-ness" pays off.Keep up the good work!
