My car ia 327 210. My tag says 11A. The rear end is a single track 3.08, it has a 1123 date. Everything on this car is original, does that date work? Car has original motor etc. can't imagine the rear is not original..

Your VIN could tell approx when it was made.

Post up the numbers. Can't de-code without the data....

The VIN is 124379N535924. The Tag is a 11A. The rear says 1123G, I think there was one more letter I will have to go look. I may get the numbers for the whole tag too.

The VIN would be an early Nov 68 build (last NOR VIN for Nov 68 was 551862), so that lines up with the tag. I can't see a rear assembled the Saturday before Thanksgiving winding up in that car as OE.

It is about a 2weeks difference. I truly believe it was. The engine is original, the whole car was literally untouched. Maybe they ran short on rear ends. I would like to see what % of 327 210 cars had a 3.08 single track. I would say the majority for sure. I will doublecheck the numbers.

What trans?
PA or PE axle?? Did you check the axle casting date?

I know its PA. I'll have to check the casting date.

Its K118. The code is PA1123G1.

I can't imagine a 327 210 killing any rear end, but I guess anything is possible.

wonder if the date was stamped wrong...

Who knows. 11-02 would have looked better. It doesn't make sense, because I don't see blowing a rear up with a 327 210. If you did blow up a 3.08 single track, The odds of you getting another 3.08 with that close a date would be slim, if you tried. The car was retired in 1993, and nobody cared about date codes then. Maybe a parts shortage or something caused a delay.

My BU axle was stamped 1122 , before this axle in question but my vin is later on a 12A body.

It's been swapped. I've seen this on a few low-po cars - not common but it happens.
An 11A car was already at the dealer when that axle was made.

Which trans?

When I was young and foolish :) (now I'm old and foolish!) ... I had a 'lo-perf' car which wouldn't burn rubber doing it straight away... . but around a turn starting off it would get light on a tire and would.. so one day, I hit it especially hard starting off from a light and turning right, and low and behold! ... I broke every spider gear in the rear!~

Possible scenario with your car: It's new.. you've recently bought it, and wanna spin the tires.. .and something like the above occurs... and since it's *new*, you won't accept the dealership *repairing* the rear end.... you insist on a new one...... so it gets a complete rear end/housing dated a few weeks behind the car production....

So there is zero chance this is original? I have an 8.5 3.73 to put in the hugger. I can put the 3.08 open back in the other car, but then its gone. Just want to be sure before I do it. The other car is a 68 RS we just bought.........
