Well I bought a 69 Camaro with a 383 10.5:1 engine which funnelled thru Hedmann Headers, H pipe, and then into two FlowMaster 40 series (noisemakers) right before the rear axle.
I just got back from picking up my car after having an exhaust shop install my new Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers and Flowmaster Mandrel Bent 2.5" Tailpipes. Its amazing this is the same car! Idle and cruise is very quiet, kinda like a Z06 Corvette! Seat of the pants performance difference is nonexistent, yet I can actually hear what is going on around me and with the car/suspension! No more vibrating loud exhaust notes humming underneith the back seat.
But when I step on the gas, she still roars!! This is just wonderful. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Summitracing :
FLO-15801 Chevrolet: 1967-81 Camaro/Firebird, 1962-74 Nova, 2 1/2 in. dual rear exit, tailpipe kit $99.95
WLK-17734 Super Turbo, 2 1/2 in. offset inlet/offset outlet, muffler $34.95 QTY 2
Labor : $120

So for $280 I am very happy with my choice.

I'll post some pictures tonight once I get ahold of my digital camera at home.

LOL!! :D
He's got wood blocks on the pedals.

Sounds good Brian. (no pun intended) Did the shop have to weld hangers on the pipes?

Hangers were welded about 4" from the back of the car along the frame rail, rubber/steel type hangers, the back of the mufflers were supported using hangers that bolt into existing holes under the car.

I know how you feel. I just had a set of flo-pro's installed with 2.5" from the headers back. What a difference. Sounds really awesome. Still a little loud, but it quites down when cruising. It has an awesome sound when I am cruising at 3300 RPM in third. I would really like to hear it go by but I cant get myself to let anyone else drive it...

I have the old style Series 30 two chamber flowmasters (the muffler shop had them buried in the bottom of the stack and I found them hehehe). They sound great at idle but will rock your world when you get on it. After awhile out on the interstate at 3000 RPM it does get a bit annoying.

I know a guy who ran dual 3" with Dynomax Super Turbo Hemi's (the really really long version) behind a very nasty small block. His car was so quiet it was unblievable. You see it going down the track running 10's but dont hear it
