sizzlnz Mar 1st, 09, 09:51 PM That look like the ultimate Texas whitetail deer gun.
RUNNING SHOTS NO PROBLEM!
HarleyD67 Mar 1st, 09, 11:12 PM Harley I half expected to see you post a 50bmg when I first saw the tittle of the tread. Glad to see you started with the pee shooter for those squirrels instead of something a little overkill like a 20 mm.:D Careful though I have herd those ferrell hogs can get down right ornery when you kick em.
parkbrau Mar 2nd, 09, 03:12 AM 7MM is a good cartridge. Shoots straight and accurate, even in the wind. I had a Mauser years and years ago. It was my deer rifle.

Hes got one on the wall. Thats next. lol
68rs406 Mar 2nd, 09, 07:31 PM I hunted with a guy that carried a 7mm mag Remington that looked just like that, it was ridicules when he shot, it sounded like a freaking cannon and kicked like a mother. Pretty much after he shot you might as well head in because all the deer had....

Eleanor's Nemesis Mar 3rd, 09, 06:27 AM That AA12 shotgun is something else! Did ya see the video at the end with the grenade shells?
I hope our service men and women in the Middle East have access to those guns, talk about a street sweeper!

Yeah because god knows everyone should have a silencer....
SPARKY69 Mar 3rd, 09, 11:48 AM Yeah because god knows everyone should have a silencer....its not for everybody...:D
okiemark Mar 3rd, 09, 11:50 AM Hard to believe our military turnd down the Thompson. This gun reminds me of that.
Brackneyc Mar 3rd, 09, 01:12 PM its not for everybody...:D
I don't think you can just waltz into a gun show and buy a silencer can you? They tend to be regulated tighter than the guns themselves. Getting caught with one and not having the proper documentation could get you into heap of trouble. I'd research this to be sure.
Gary L Mar 3rd, 09, 01:29 PM Dennis when I saw the title of the thread I was thinking the same thing !!

It was a sincere jesture on my part based on the accounts of Harley's life posted in the forums and his blog. Since December when he left the Navy he's had no job, no money to pay his rent, bills or afford Christmas for his kids. Now he has secured a job for a little over a month, leased a home in TX where he's relocated to and is now able to afford toys.
I am impressed at how fast he found economic recovery and happy life is good in his corner once again...

Well said Dennis, feel the same way, glad for Harley!!!
wiskeesour Mar 3rd, 09, 06:24 PM I was starting to think I shouldnt have said anything about buying a gun. However, ALL my bills are paid thru March. The month I didnt have a job I scraped by working for my family. Wore out the new shovel and Sledgehammer. I put in around 60 hours a week on resumes, networking and job hunting. I got lucky and landed this job. It pays really well. Considering all the help and thoughts I received from you guys, I had to share. I kept my head up and pushed forward, like all of you had advised to do.
Im not embarassed or ashamed, nor did I do this to agravate anyone. I know I dont have to explain myself. I only posted this to be able to share in my excitement at finally doing good. I had to share with you guys, my fellow Camaro enthusiasts.
Thanks guys,
And If my past troubles and sudden turnaround have pissed you off, then post here and receive the same advice I did, pull your boots straps up, and make something happen.
I did.

I did.
Where did that come from?
wiskeesour Mar 3rd, 09, 06:40 PM Where did that come from?
Just telling what advice I used to get where I am.

My remark was meant in good spirit as well. I was just thinking the other day how we haven't heard much from Harley. I was going to post to an old thread to get an update. You wear your heart on your sleeve so I would expect to hear the good news as well as the bad.
Now the silencer remark was meant as it was stated.
I need to use more smileys.
wiskeesour Mar 3rd, 09, 07:26 PM No harm done. Wanted to share. You guys helped me when I got in a bind.
Guess it was my way of saying thanks again.

Maybe I should have got the 50. LMAO...Thats the kind of hog I am after. I have a few big guns, 45-70, 30-30, M1 Garand, ect, ect. but couldnt turn down a 7mm mag with a scope for $400.
sizzlnz Mar 3rd, 09, 09:28 PM Man all this talk about pigs!!!!!!! Makes me want to go hunting ...........
ChevyThunder Mar 3rd, 09, 09:42 PM Yeah because god knows everyone should have a silencer....
That is funny! Good thing I never had one when I was married otherwise I would be typing this from my prison cell :)
My comment was that it was such a turn around Harley... It was like yesterday you were so down and out and then BAG !! (couldn't resist:) )Here you are rolling again ! It is nice you were able to afford a new gun. My father always says " when you do good you always have to give yourself a biscuit " In other wards treat yourself every once in a while when you are doin good and keep working hrad so you can do it again.
For those who don't know the whole story you should read the original thread from December of 08

Nice to have a happy ending to one . It was just a bit shocking is all ! I think some of us were feeling so much of your pain through your very descriptive words . Good for you Harley!
On that note back to the rifle... I think I will keep my FN FAL 308 match that I have had for over 25 years... and in the words of Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Highway , "I can put a round in a flea's butt at 200 meters." .. no scope needed :)
South Side Goons & Hitmen Mar 3rd, 09, 10:11 PM Maybe I should have got the 50. LMAO...Thats the kind of hog I am after. I have a few big guns, 45-70, 30-30, M1 Garand, ect, ect. but couldnt turn down a 7mm mag with a scope for $400.
Harley, glad to hear you are doing better! Now that I just got home from work I can respond to this thread.:) I hit the gun range for some target practice a few weeks ago for the first time since the 1990's. I had fun & played it safe & re-learned alot of things. I don't hunt, but I know alot of people who do including some of my neighbors. Nothin' like baggin' some big game to make ya feel better. Congrats to ya!! :beers:
As far as the .50 caliber....I fired that caliber for the first time ever in a handgun form 2 weeks ago...The Smith & Wesson Model 500 .50 Magnum. The thing is insane! It's not a hand gun it's a hand cannon. I posted the velocity & specs in the off topic forum. The muzzle blast & fps are absolutely ridiculous. :D :D
I was wondering what you were up to since Thanksgiving! God Bless ya young lad! Be safe and I wish you all the success in the world from a fellow Camaro fan. :beers:

buenymayor Mar 4th, 09, 12:37 AM Yes, conrats are due Harley. :hurray: Poor guy jumped off the deep end and decided to leave the Navy with no job secured to support himself or his family. I've been unemployed with no means to support the wife and kids, and it is no fun place to be. Landing a good job so soon (and especially with this economy) is a tribute to him. Just goes to show you what hard work and perserverance can accomplish. Way to go!!!!
SPARKY69 Mar 4th, 09, 05:19 AM makes 3.
