View Full Version : Carb linkage and kickdown linkage after converting 2bbl to 4bbl

Car was originally a 327/210 2bbl.

Converted it over to a 275hp setup with a factory intake and quadrajet. We were able to bend the existing linkage to hook up to the car but its definitely not correct.

Also, the kickdown cable to the tranny (Powerglide) is not hooked up.

What do I need to purchase to hook both up correctly?

Thanks,
Jason

What year are you working on and what transmission? I had to start from scratch on my '68 when I went with the 327/275 set up, so I was in a similar situation. I just didn't have anything to start with.

All of the linkages are available from the parts houses, and that's where I got everything I needed. Check with your favorite. I use Heartbeat City, Classic Industries, and Rick's. Ususally in that order.

If you're working on a '67 or '68 with a powerglide, they have a bellcrank that mounts on the bolts between the eng/trans and not a cable. I would assume you're working on another year or trans if you have a cable. Brian

I just recently pulled my stock 327/210 out of my 67, I stuffed a 406 back in, I to have the stock powerglide for know, but the throttle linkage went right back on, I did have to by the knew 4 barrell kickdown rod, I got it from ricks but I think everybody carries them. I believe the only difference is the 4 barrell rod is about an 1 1/2 longer you could modify the one you have

1968 - Powerglide.

I usually use DR Classic, they've done me well.

Do I need a new bellcrank then? Any idea of all the parts that you used? I tried searching their website but cannot seem to find what I need.

Do I need a new bellcrank then? OE bellcrank should work fine. You may have to either get a longer upper linkage rod or extend the original rod to make the adjustment at WOT.

Yes, you will need a bellcrank assembly, upper linkage, lower linkage, and the clips/studs to hook to the carb and tranny. Look in the A.I.M. and you'll see what you need.

I've never been to DR Classic's website, but most of them have search features. Try typing in "bellcrank" or "linkage". Some may even sell the tranny kickdown in an entire kit. Or, just call them and tell them you need everything for the kickdown and the linkage that goes from the firewall gas pedal piece to the carb for a 4bbl.

Good luck and let us know if we can help anymore. Brian
