: Cut down the TREE!!
CamaroNOTcamero May 11th, 03, 10:28 AM I participated in the local bracket races at Englishtown for the first time today.
Ed Bigley was there as usual.
My R/T times were:
.625 (first time out)
.546
.569
.595
Ran my .02 over my dial first round, moved on to the second round and went out by .03 too fast the 2nd round.
Weighed my 67' on Englishtown's scales (accurate to +/- 5lbs) and got a weight of 3176 lbs with the driver, 1/2 tank of gas, full interior, air conditioning, and stock 6 cylinder.
Best ET was 18.62 with stock 6 cyl/ Glide and small gears.
.....For those who thought i'd never step up to the plate....and also for those that KNEW i would!
I'll post next season after the new combo goes in.
pdq67 May 11th, 03, 01:22 PM Great, CNC!!
The girls say you can have just as much fun with a big one as you can with a little one and you proved the latter!!!
I know your SB BSE is coming but wouldn't be fun ta fool around with the 6 banger in the meantime???
I can just see two, little dueces on it and a split exhaust manifold, plus a good old-fashioned 3/4 Race cam!!! Install big valves and plane her down some to raise the CR...Drop in some 4.11's or maybe even 4.56's for just racing and have at it!! pdq67
CamaroNOTcamero May 11th, 03, 01:34 PM Paul,
I have some plans to make the 6 cylinder a little more exciting (in the mean time) as well as a little more consistant.
I'm going to install my 4.10 12 bolt rear over the summer, as well as install a Cheetah Turbo action shifter and water temp and oil press guages.
As well i'm going to buy Hoosier QT pro tires and drag lite wheels.
my 60ft times were 2.78-2.79 (with "0" tire spin on BFG's...lol) so the 4.10 gears and Hoosier's will cut down the 60ft's.
I figure i'll learn how to stage, launch and race with the little engine, while building the big one for next season.
BigRed-L72 May 11th, 03, 02:46 PM Now that`s cool!!, I kid you not graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I love it.
Is there anyway possible to get your real motor in before the season wraps up??
I hope so. Anyway... I`ve got to admire your determination to get in some seat time smile.gif
67 Plum May 11th, 03, 02:46 PM Sounds fun. Even if it wasnt the fastest it looked good.
MCGOO May 11th, 03, 03:21 PM Hey!!!
Now I have a target to aim for.......
I've owned my car since March 1990, but never had it to the track.
I think 18:49 is pretty darn good, considering that I ran 17:49 in my Buddies bone stock 327 2bbl power glide '68 Camaro. (a very long time ago)
If I get a chance I'll see what my old beast can run.
I think your 18:49 will be tough to beat.
Paul  graemlins/beers.gif
CamaroNOTcamero May 11th, 03, 04:06 PM Thanks guys!
BigRed, I'm doing my best to get it together, it's going slow now, i'm going back to work soon (i'm starting to feel pretty good again).
Most likely it'll be next season, but keep your fingers crossed.
Paul, it was an 18.62, good luck. I've done absolutely no tuning to the current engine, so if you spend some time dialing in your timing and fine tuning the car you should run quicker then 18.62.
I'm going to keep up with you though, 4.10's will be soon :D
supv26 May 11th, 03, 06:42 PM I had a '67 Chevy truck that had the 6 cyl. 250 with a 3 speed on the tree. I really liked that old truck and one thing about it, the ol' thing would run good. I kick myself in the back every stinkin' time I think about the time I sold it!!!
graemlins/clonk.gif  graemlins/sad.gif
Anyway, now I have my '69 and I am just die'n to get it to the track to make a few passes. I know it ain't no rocket ship and it sure won't be a winner but I want to get a few time tickets and have them laminated to hang up in the garage with the rest of my stuff. Does anyone know of a way that it could be 'guesstimated' on how fast a car would be lets say on an 1/8 mile track????
RickD May 12th, 03, 03:19 AM Excellent. Good motor to cut your teeth on. BTW -in the late 60's I used to watch a camaro with a '6' run very well. It had many mods and went like stink.
JIM68 May 12th, 03, 06:17 AM CamaroNOTcamero,
Let us know next time you will be at englishtown, i'll come out to see you run. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Joe 69 May 13th, 03, 04:28 PM Hey CamaroNOTcamero
See you at E town on the 18th. You should bring the car up to Island were we run. Its not as crowded. You can get more runs in.
CamaroNOTcamero May 13th, 03, 05:22 PM thanks Steve.
Joe, island is a bit of a haul for me. I do like heading to Atco though, i plan to run there in october.
I wont have my car there on the 18th, way to crowded to bring it. I will be roaming the pits though, thats my favorite part of it. I'll probably where my camaro hat, i'm a skinny italian kid, you should be able to spot me.
