I'm considering buying a used 12 bolt out of a 64-67 chevelle. The ad states the tube mounts have been removed for a leaf spring application. Has 4.56 gears with the factory posi and dated "J 6 5" and measures 60.5".
Any advise?
Thanks. Doug

If it's an original '64 to '67 Chevelle rear end then it would be worth putting the lower mounts back on it and selling it. These are hard to find. Get the lower mounts from a 10 bolt.

The guy is asking $900 bucks. I might offer $750. After I pay shop to weld the mounts, I'd have about $1000 bucks into a built 12-bolt posi. Not a bad deal?
My current rearend out of a 72 chevelle is about 1" wider then this one and I have slight tire rubbing issues. This rearend sounds like a good fit.

I believe the 64-67 Chevelle 12 bolt is the same length as the first gen Camaro(please someone correct me if i am wrong). They seemed like bigger cars, but the rear end was narrower than the 68-72 Chevelle.

The seller told me that the 64-67 chevelle RR is .5" longer than 67-69 camaro?

Nope, they are the same. Both take the same 29 5.8 inch axles.
