Which tires to choose? I'm at tire/wheel selection stage of a full rotisserie resto of my 67 RS Convert - Tahoe Turquoise (paint next week). As I'm original owner, we are keeping stock/period look. But have to go for 15" wheels for added disc brakes. Rally wheels with 67 caps look good - probably in 7". For tires, I want to break up the black sidewall so it points toward red lines. Not wanting too much sidewall, I'm looking at 235/60 on rear & 225/60 front. That puts me to Diamond Back & they use Cooper Turbo-Tech's for these sizes. But cannot find any reviews of these tire performance - how do they perfom compared to performance all seasons? There doesn't seem to be many tires available in 235/60-15 so I may have to sacrifice performance for looks. My driving style is cruising (327 2 barrel PG) but I like to be able to do corners comfortably. Advice please - anyone know how these Cooper tires handle?

Thanks

The Cooper Tires are good handling tires. They are also a quality brand. I have Goodyear Eagle GT II's on my 1969 all the way around in a P235/60/R15...Be careful though....In my experiences in the auto industry during the 1990's you could get more tire on the front of a 1969 then a 1967 or 1968 and more tire on the back of a 1967 or 1968 then a 1969....I don't have any rubbing issues on my car. But some guys with 1967's or 1968's say a P235/60/R15 rubs on the front...I would go with P225/60/R15 on the front or maybe even P215/65/R15 up front which was OEM on 1982 - 1987 Z28's & 1985 - 1990 5.0L IROC-Z's and also the Buick Grand National and a host of other GM cars...A P235/60/R15 will be just fine in the back and a P255/60/R15 would work too...

call diamondback; they put the redline on just about any tire made. ask for the firestone firehawk indy 500's. they're the best rated tire in your size at tirerack.

Look, for a period correct car as far as tires are concerned, I'd look hard at Coker's Firestone Wide-Oval Redline stock re-pop's!

Don't worry about the old ride quality, period correct is period correct, or to hell w/ that and step up to modern 16's or 17's and be done w/ it AND I did..

I have 225 and 255/45-17's now...

Thanks for advice. Just noticed on DB website that their 2009 catalog has a new line based on BFG Radial T/A that seems to be quite popular & also comes in the 225 & 235 sizes I am looking at. Confirmed it with phone call to DB. In what I've found, the Firestones don't come in the 225 & 235 so would not meet my needs. I want to get the same circumference rears as original. I'll have to check delivered prices - with our low Cdn $, US prices sure hurt up here these days. - Paint booth booked for Saturday!!!!

Thanks
