went to the exhaust shop down the stret to get pricing the other day. he told me the american thunder style set up would hang down too low and i wouldnt like it. he reccomended i go with the flowmaster direct replacement 2 in 2 out transverse muffler instead. he "claims" it will sound just as tough and i wont lose any performance. what do you guys think? fresh 350 dynomax headers 68 SS

I've installed both systems, and the Force II is much quieter.

The ground clearance is fantastic. On a 69 Camaro, 350HO, Dynomax coated headers, the performance of the Force II is great!

However, the American Thunder system should allow more power to be made with more radical combos.

I have the AT on my 68 and installed the "H" pipe bowed up for ground clearance. the lowest part on my exhaust is the headers.

I also have the American Thunder system, and the header collectors are the lowest hanging part.

I have the AT system sitting in a box ready to go behind Hedman headers. I can't imagine they would hang any lower than the collectors, or possibly the SFC when I put them on.

Winch, look at the H-pipe and you'll see what I meant about it being "bowed". it can go either way up or down.

On my 69 you cannot even see the exhaust hangin' from the car. Tucked in nicely. I used the H-PIPE with the "bow" heading downward. No clearance probs at all. By the way, I love the sound http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif Just my .02

Yep, the AT includes everything. No welding is really needed to install, but Flowmaster highly recommends welding the connections after installing, and then remove the clamps.

where to the pipes exit? straight back, or turn down behind the rear wheel?

They exit in the stock location. For a 67-68 that is between the rear quarters and the springs - right behind the rear wheels. For a 69 they exit out the back.
