Looked into buying a 454 4bolt main. The guy said it has 4 bolt main caps but was never drilled for the outside bolts from the factory! What the! Sounds like a 2 bolt! Anyone heard such nonsense?

Some block castings were for 2 or 4 bolt, but I don't think they would have installed 4 bolt caps from the factory without drilling and tapping the holes. Sounds like someone used those caps on a 2 bolt block, and the seller thinks it came that way. You can have it drilled and use those caps I believe, but the expense might not be worth it.

I would also get the crank bores checked very closely. If someone just slapped on different caps without at least a hone you won't know if they are true or not.
