I've come across a screaming deal on a 75 Nova for $200. I'm looking to get a 8.5 10 bolt. My question is will a 75 rearend still bolt up to my 69? I've been searching and I've found that in 76 they changed, and you could either get a 8.5 or a 7.5 10 bolt, and neither will work. But when I look online most places say up to a 74 Nova rearend will bolt in, and some throw in the 75 as well, seems like nobody is sure for a 75. Also same question on the front subframe? 68 to 74 x body will work I know, but is a 75 the same as that or is it changed? Can't seem to find a definite answer, 75 was an oddball year I guess?? Only thing I'm looking for is the disk brakes off it if it's equipped with em.

Measure the rear end. The total width should be 60 inches. The spring perches should be 42 1/2 inches from center to center. If this is what it is then it will work.

You're good to go as long as it's the original rearend. From '76 up the 6 cyl. cars had the 7.5 rear.

Check the pics on how to indentify an 8.5

You may or may not need to shorten your driveshaft. Bolt everything up and set the weight of the car on the axle before measuring. Measure twice, cut once.

Mine came out of a '77 Nova and was a direct bolt in. No cutting involved.

awesome page, thanks for the replies, any idea on the subframe? Or should I ask in the brakes & suspension section?

I think the Nova went to front steer in '75. The brakes might work if you can swap sides with the tie rod bracket.

Brakes are different more like the 70 Camaro setup.

Anything I should yank off the car while I have it other than the rearend? It's a 6cyl auto, 4 door so there's a no. lol. Parking brake cable and anything going to the axle is a gimme, any ideas other than that?

Screws, bolts, wires, lights, fuse box, switches, body bolts washers and shims, any parts that might be used in another project. These parts can be hard to find when they are needed. I think the '75 has the same dash as the '74, which means that it is also similar to the '69 Camaro dash. The glove box dore and ash tray can be used in the '69. There is a lot that can be used off of it.

I won't say proud new owner, but a new owner of a 75 4dr 6cyl Nova. I came across a page yesterday that somewhat described how to put 30 spline axles out of a 12 bolt and what years to get a posi unit from, they had a 90's truck as an example. Any ideas on this one at all? Or what years I can swipe a stock posi out of that will bolt up to the 8.5 axles? Should be easy, but what do I need to look out for if I go this route? Thanks again

The trucks use the Governor Lock differential. It will work, but not very well. They have a few small aprts in them that tend to break when abused. I recommend a new 30 spline Eaton posi and a set of Moser axles. The problem with the 12 bolt axles is that the c clip button is .312 and the 8.5 c clip buton is .250. You have to cut the 12 bolt axles to fit. The Moser axles are made to fit, so no modifications. I've done it both ways and the Moser axles are the better way to go. Let me know if you need prices on parts.
