I have a chance to buy a complete LS1 rearend that has all the brakes and cables. I would be transferring this stuff to my rearend. Have any of you purchased this stuff? I can buy the entire rearend for $300.

Just curious if this is a deal or not. I would be buying it only for the brakes.

Well, seems like it is. Even at Rock Auto numbers add up pretty fast.

Because of the emergency brake configuration the LS1 rear discs are not the ideal swap onto a 1st gen.

So I should looking for an LT1 type? Like '94-'97 instead?

They work just fine on a '67. I did the swap myself and you just reverse the sides (r to l and l to r).

The LT1 rear uses the caliper and rotor as the e-brake, a cable is available that lets them connect right into the 1st gen just like the drum brakes did... The LS1 style uses a seperate drum/shoe as the e-brake.

Hammered what did you have to do or fab up to get the e-brake working on the LS1 style brakes?

I made up a spacer with an integral pb bracket tab. I bought a new pair of LS1 cables, pulled the ferule off one end, shortened the cable and put it back. I had a new barrell crimped on, but you could tig one onto the end of the cable if necessary. They hook up to the factory intermediate cable and foot brake. It all works great and I can't wait for the weather to break to get out and heat 'em up.
