Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to install a gear shifter onto a muncie 4 speed tranny. This is being installed on a 67 camaro. The shifter is the kind that mounts to the tranny cross member. There are a few ways that the changer linkage rods could be put onto the tranny.Could anyone offer any pics of what the rods look like when correctly installed,or does anyone have any tips or advice on this installation. This is the first time that i've put a shifter on a muncie tranny.

Thank's

MDillon- Is that Matt Dillon like Gunsmoke?
Seriously, this link has a photo of the newer linkage (mounts to tranny), but maybe you can get your questions answered. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=152483&highlight=muncie+shifter+linkage
Do you have an AIM- Assembly Instruction Manual?(for a 67)
That would have a detailed picture of your setup.
Hope this helps.

Matt,
check the pic in the link above for orientation. Make sure your tranny is in neutral and tires are chalked to prevent the car fom rolling. Mount the shifter to the crossarm first. Put a dowel or 1/4" bolt in the slot in the shifter to keep it locked in the neutral position. Now attatch the reverse shift arm then the middle arm, then finally the front shift arm adjusting the lengths of the rods as needed to get them to easily slide into their respective pivot points. Once all rods are attatched pull the pin out of the shifter. You should now be able to sit in the car and run the lever through the gears easily.
