Well i put some new heads on. and my times at the track went down, they are Dart Iron Egal 200cc with some light porting (just clean up the ports) 2.02 an 1.6 on a 406 time was 8.12 in the 8th mile
should have got the 220's
engine specs
406 SRP pistons 11.1 flat top with 64 cc heads
cam CC 300AR Roller 264-266 with 630 lift with 1.5 rocker
but have 1.6 magnums that comes out to 670 i think
5.7 rods
victor in take
850 holley
MSD pro billit 8551
Acell 300 Ing
12 bolt with 3.73
trans 400 with trans brake(did not use at track, no Elct.. :( ) 400 stall
I think i should be in the low 7's
and ET street 12.5 tires
What do you gus think may be selling them... graemlins/angry.gif

What heads did you have before, and what did it run with them?

You could go larger but vacuum might start to be an issue. I have AFR 210's with a Victor Jr. with no vacuum problems. The AFR 227's (I think that is their largest "stock valve train" design) might be fine with the right cam. What is the redline on your cam? If it is over 6500 then larger port volume will definately be a help. Do you trust your porting skills? Those heads should be able to accomidate some hoggin' out.

Cheers,
Joseph

Yeah, something is off there -- I'd think she should go low 7's too.

What about having the Iron Eagles professionally ported? You could get them flowing better than larger out-of-the-box heads while keeping runner size within reason if massaged by the right guy.

and for refernce I'm going low 7s with a 383 and mildly worked TFS 23* heads that flow 260 'ish with a 203-205cc runner so I don't think that 200cc is way too small.

PS. we flowed a set of 200cc Iron Eagles once and they were WAY off . . . after a 3 angle valve job they flowed right about 220/180 at .500" if I remember. We dumped them in favor of some 200cc ProToplines and a smaller cam -- the car went .5 faster in the 1/4.

Comp specs that cam from 4200-7200 rpm, shifting at 6200 means you're leaving a lot on the table. I'd look for a cam that's more in line with the rest of the drivetrain, or a drivetrain that's more in line with the cam. We run 7.50's in a 3450# 406 with a 224° cam shifting at 5500.

Agreed. WAY too much cam for that combo. Get something in the 242/248 @ .050 range and watch the ET drop by leaps and bounds.

Cam is too big for the rest of the combo. I would also have the heads professionally ported. Those two changes should get you close to where you want to be.
