View Full Version : 1968 Yenko
SS69Cam Mar 14th, 09, 10:15 PM I am just passing along this information that was sent to me. I can't authenticate if any of this is genuine or not, but wanted to make sure people had the opportunity to check it out.
1968 RS/SS Yenko Camaro for sale.
It’s a very solid project car with only 25,000 miles (been in storage since 1972). This is a genuine Yenko, if you need any more details please email me (Simon Thaxter ) nbirdy@frontiernet.net OR call 928 565 5062.
The car is in Arizona and has a clear title in my name. I have lots of pictures if anybody is interested.
wiskeesour Mar 14th, 09, 10:22 PM How bout some pictures, please?

firstgenaddict Mar 16th, 09, 09:28 AM Back the numbers out and 145k aint too bad... if you do all the work yourself....
JOE58 Mar 16th, 09, 03:38 PM That magaizine article on it is very cool. There were not many articles done on the Yenko cars in the 60s-70s

IDS_Bill Mar 16th, 09, 09:27 PM Not to be controversial but - 145K for a Camaro that appears to be a Yenko but without an engine, tranny, documentation or unique pedigree?
The '67 Yenko at Mecum went for 480K but the '67 is rarer and it was fully documented and impeccably restored ($100K-ish resto).
I think $145K - in today's market, not last year's - is at least $50K high.
Doesn't mean I wouldn't love it for a project instead of building a recreation though! :)
yenkofind Mar 16th, 09, 11:24 PM this is my car , how many genuine 25,000 mile yenko project cars are out there for sale? every thing you see in the pictures is original , yes it needs restoring but the buyer would be the first to restore it and the interior is better in person than in the pictures , even all the rubber parts ar still soft and original (because of its long storage in the dark in england) and yes it is a real yenko and i am in contact with all but one of the previous owners back to 1971 (the last one is dead) but his best friend has known the car since 1972 ! i am now taking offers on this car so grab it now , because there will never be another chance like this , it has not been driven in america since 1969!
clill Mar 17th, 09, 12:10 AM Am I hearing things wrong ? I thought I was told the front clip was left outside and rotted away and the current front end sheetmetal in the pics is stuff that was added to make the car more complete ? That would contradict your statement about everything in the pics being original. I have also seen pics of the bottom of the car being very pitted. Those pics have not been shared with the public. It might be a 25K mile car but that means nothing when you look at the condition of the car. The black 67 that sold for 480K is a 30K mile car and it is in ten times better shape. I love the car and have no doubt that it is very real and very restorable. If I had any real money I could spend I would probably make you a offer but like everyone else right now, money is tight and I already have 4 cars coming together. I used to have YS 8030 and it was a twin to this one. When you first surfaced with the car I was a player and had the cash to spend but you priced it too high and my money went elsewhere. Now your price has come down but so has my spendable money. I wish I had the dough. I have a ZL1 engine on a stand that would be perfect in that car.
As for the 67 Yenko that sold at Mecum for 480K. It never had a 100K resto. It is a 30K mile car that had a repaint years ago. I doubt if there has ever been more than 10K in work done on it over the years.
Simon I can't say I can fault you for any of the prices you have put on your car but your timing of it is off with the market.
firstgenaddict Mar 17th, 09, 02:09 PM Its an awesome car and being the first to restore one is a dream to us anal detail oriented people...
yenkofind Mar 17th, 09, 08:50 PM yes the front end sheet metal is not original , sorry for my brain fog ,but every thing else is original ,as for the underside being pitted with rust ,yes it has surface rust but it is no where near as bad as the pictures make out in fact the pictures make this car look worse than it is ,come and see it i welcome any one even if you are not a buyer .

I emailed but got no response. I am interested in seeing it and considering it. Where are you in AZ? I am in Cave Creek (ish).
I do understand that you are personal friends with the people who owned it but - from a buyer's standpoint - what documentation is there?
enio45 Mar 18th, 09, 06:48 PM Simon - i agree with Charlie - is a good car to do - but the market is way off your desires - as we discussed a few times.
IDS_Bill Mar 20th, 09, 10:31 AM Never got contacted about it.
Strange........................................... .
xplantdad Mar 20th, 09, 09:05 PM Bill, it takes Simon a bit of time to get back to you...:beers:
