My '69 RS/SS was originally purchased new in Superior, AZ on 5/1/69. The selling dealership was a "Payer Motors".

I visited Superior a few years back and the house and garage are still there. The current owner of the home remembers the original owner (now deceased). He told me that she had a son (who he thought was a doctor in Tuscon, AZ) and a daughter (whom had also passed away). I tried to locate the son, without sucess.

The current homeowner also stated that he grew up in Superior and thought he remembered my car. He stated that he remembered a Bright Green Camaro (mine is originally Rallye Green) sitting on the showroom floor for some time. (my car is an Oct. '68 build).

He pointed the original dealership out to me... which is still there, albeit boarded up and abandoned. I have photos somehwere... but I haven't found them.

Besides the VIN and POP info, I also have the original AZ license plate number (written in pen on the back of the original owners manual).
I've tried a few times, but AZ BMV will not do any type of title search. They state that it is their policy not to release personal information. :(

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The rest of the history I know from working backwards is that the car was in Chicago (Midwest Car Exchange) in 1996-97, Sterling Hts, MI in 1997-98, and I purchased it in 1998. I'd love to know how the car got out to Chicago and whom else may have owned it.

Any pointers or assistance would be very helpful!

I am also stuck at a certain point tracking down owners of my car. The advice I was given, was to run down any and all leads no matter how small or insignificant. You never know which one will yield results. It stinks that the privacy laws are preventing us from doing innocent research for vehicle ownership. On the other hand, some might take it too far and harass people that do not want to be bothered. While the cars are special to us, to some people it was just a conveyance.

I've run down about every option I can think of.

What's so frustrating is that I know the beginning and the recent history of the car ... but not the middle. I have quite a bit of information ... but no means to use it.

ummm, most people only care about the origins of the car, what use will the rest of the ownership history be? (other than just knowing it?)

I bought and sold quite a few 69 Camaros in the late 70's through the mid 80's (maybe 50 or so), although I recall only buying one green one, it was a 327 with Black houndstooth interior WITH a fold down rear seat, I grabbed that and put it in my RS convertible ... MOST all of the cars I sold went to the rust belt, IL, IN, OH, PA, NJ & MI

If I could get the beginning on my car I would be done with it. I have everything from now back to about 1982. I wish I had the opposite.

That's a valid point.

I'd just like to know so that I could find out what happened to the original engine, old photos, etc....
