i recently bought a 68 rs ss it is almost done i wanted to know if this car came with console and guages is there any way too tell was it a option or did the rs ss all come that way???the reason is i have a console and want to order the guage assembly but i hear that if the car didnt come with console and guages that the wiring may be more difficult.

Post your trim tag. I Believe it's option RPO D55 for the console and U17 for the gauge cluster.
Don't think it would be to hard to add wiring.

I don't think the Trim Tag is going to tell much on a '68. Check under the center of the dash for a 10 pin connection that is not being used. If its there the car was most likely ordered with a console. If it was a console w/o guages it will only have the wires for the neutral safety switch and console light and such. If it came with guages it will have alot more wires.

Did the factory put the Fuel Gauge in the dash by the speedo, and in the floor in the gauge option was ordered?

I bought a 68 and i'm trying to figure the same thing out. My car has brackets in the floor for the console, but I'm not sure if it had gauges in it. I don't like riding around without knowing oil pressure/temp/etc.

But it wouldn't think the factory would have 2 sets of gauges for fuel in the car, but then again that's why I'm hear to learn ;)

ok thanks alot for the info there is a silver feced 4 guage cluster attached under the ash tray they were ran to a plug under dash .since there is a tic toc tac in the dash, does that mean that the car had to have a guage cluster on a console or did the factory ever use some other guage cluster?

RPO U17 is tach in dash and gauges in console, required console to order U17.
So if you have a tach, you should also have the console and gauges, and vice versa. Never 2 gas gauges, and never no gas gauge.
