i saw a site on the internet were a company will make a tag for you that looks factory, you tell them what you want it to say and they will make it, they even supply the correct rivets that look factory. I cant believe it, are people turning regular camaros into a rare ones, is this true ?

ummm... yeah, it's been going on for a long time, 20+ years. And some have gotten damn good at reproducing them.

Sadly, out of the 20,000 Z/28's made in 1969, only 80,000 of them are still around today.

:D yea people use the service for restoration , but they restore plain jane camaro's into Z/28's L78's COPO's and such ,

I had never heard of any state law regarding trim tag's , especially GM trim tag's because they do not have the VIN number that is on the car's title , if they did then it would be illeagal in most states , as it is now it's just immoral :D

......umm...it's illegal in Oklahoma to be in possession of reproduction Trim Tags. I believe Oklahoma is the 1st state to enact such legislation.

Evidently OK is the only state with a politician that has been ripped off with a counterfeit trim tag. You can bet no one has been prosecuted under the OK trim tag law. There are laws in all the states against selling VIN tags and look at all the VIN tags you see on ebay.
Heart Beat City is the only supplier (I know of) selling these counterfiet tags and I for one will not buy anything from them. HBC say they only replace damaged or missing tags but there is no way they can be sure they are not selling counterfeit tags.

If you go to a car show , '57 Chevy BelAirs out number 210's and 150's combined. I don't know if it was like this in the day or not. I bought a completely numbers matching x77 in '01. Not being an expert I had a couple friends check it out for me. Now I truely have my doubts. When it comes time to sell it , I won't take the money until the buyer is 100% satisified. It makes me sick.

No politician in Oklahoma was ripped off that I know of. We just have a few lawmakers that are actually responsive to their constituents. Started with term limits for congressional politicians. Of the two Senators who were instrumental in getting the law passed, only one of them has any kind of collector car, and it is an old (1930's) Ford with no trim tag on it, so he had no pesonal stake in it at all. He was just sympathetic to the hobby and listened. The other one is not at all involved in the hobby, just appalled when he found out what was going on.
