Hi Guys,
Did a search and couldn't come up with a definitive answer....While looking through my 67 AIM it says that the rear mounted antenna (U-73) used the same antenna as front mounted (U-63) GM # 3876412. My car does have the hole in the passenger side quarter as well as the correct 2 S coding on the cowl tag. The antenna is long gone.
If I was going to go looking for the correct antenna, what should I be looking for? Do they make a suitable reproduction replacement?
Does anyone have a solid answer as to why the rear antenna was only available for the AM radio? Is there a difference in the cable if trying to use if for AM/FM? I always thought any antenna would work? :o

Thanks for any help!

I have been looking for similar info. I am in the same spot as you and it's time to put the antenna in. I have found some rear antennas that are manual telescoping (have to since I have a spoiler on it now) but I do not know the physical difference between the front and rear antennas...

Correct GM NOS antennas show up on eBay pretty regularly. The selling prices have come down quite a bit in the last few months also. Otherwise, Heartbeat City sells a repop version that they claim is very close to the originals. The correct ones for 1967 have a threaded post on the mounting end of the mast. The mast on the AM antennas is elipical in shape and is telescoping. The mounting bezel and nut are the same for 1967 and 1968, but the 1969 version is different.

my 67 RS is an original AM radio 2S rear antenna car and it still has the original antenna , I can tell you that the rear mounted one's ARE DIFFERENT they are oval shaped not round , and also to be correct it has and oval shaped tip with ring's around it , it's different looking , their is a guy on ebay that has some older aftermarket antennas that are pretty close looking for about $40 buck's , original one's were selling on ebay for $150 BUCK's but like everything else they have come down some ,
the bezel and nut is different too , if you want to be original ,,
