Can I permanently install my windshield over epoxy primer or does it need to be top coated?

Whats the rush? A top coat or base + clear coat can only offer more protection than epoxy alone.
But with that said as long as it not going to be exposed to UV rays than it probably fine, there are more experienced painters on here than me so Id wait to hear form them.

I am replacing the upper dash panel and I want to clean the pinch weld area and epoxy prime and reinstall the winshield. I am not in the process of a full restore.

Windshield urethane won't bond properly directly to topcoat paint; the body opening flange requires a silane primer prior to glass installation, just like the factory did it (the glass also requires a different silane primer).

Do you have a brand preference?

Thanks,

3M (and others) have the correct materials; a local auto glass shop should be able to help you out.

:beers:
