Keep looking!

12 bolt rear?
How many leafs in the rear springs?
Which hood?
Which auto, 2 or 3 speed?
Do you have the numbers off the engine?

Bill are the 2 holes on driver's side rear frame just holes or is there an extra welded plate, about 3"x5" with the hole thru that? If there is no extra plate, it was not factor original dual exhaust, so then no SS.

Can you re-check the tag? Y15 can't be right. I think you're missing a digit.
And do you have a VIN that you'd care to post?

Its not a dual exhaust car or an SS unless it has the plate shown below on the drivers side. Its the welded plate to the right of the shock with the bolts in it.

It looks most likely that it could be an SS. What is the stamping on the forward side of the pass side rear axle tube? Is the gas tank still in the car?

Sounds good so far Bill. When do we get some pictures?

Your going t have to jack the car up and take a wire brush to the axle tube to get the numbers. Sometimes it takes a little elbow grease to be able to see them clearly. If the gas tank is original, it is possible that the build sheet is on top on the drivers side of it. It is easiest to drop the tank by draining all the gas and loosening the bolts on the tank straps. Sometimes you can see it by shining a flashlight thru the rear wheel well towards the top side of the tank. If it's there carefully lower the tank and gently remove it. There are codes on the sheet that can determine the original configuration of the car.

Axle code will confirm it's original to the car.
The LOS # on the cowl tag is missing a digit, should be 6 digits.
Without the driver's side exhaust doubler plate, it probably was a LM1. http://www.camaros.org/lm1.shtml

I just want to say thanks to all you guys for giving me things to check out on my 69 Camaro RS/SS [ I hope] I've been a bit under the wheather this week, so didn't get under her yet. I'll post what ever I find out soon. With your help maybe we can pin point what she really is. Bill

Interesting thread. After reading the LM1 info, I think my car is either an LM1 RS or RS/SS. Was a 350/4 speed car, dual exhaust plates, dual fuel lines, disc brakes w/brake valve, AC. Interesting reading. My car had no rear end or motor. The 4 speed muncie came with it. My build date is 11C- 3rd week NOV? Scott

Could very well be an LM1 Scott, but its best you start a new thread so folks can follow one at a time.
The Nov 68 build date is in the proper range for an LM1. Start a new thread with all your VIN and cowl tag numbers so folks can try to help decode everything for you and the CRG guys will also follow it for their data base. :)

What tach came with the SS's and what about the heater box where the inlet and oulets come out?

28 Springs on the hood hinge springs, if original, would rule out LM1 (I really don't think someone would add SS hinges???)
