UPS brought the last part I needed today, so tonight I finished up the install, filled up the radiator, and fired off the 68 with the new BBC 505. Will get the car to the muffler shop tomorrow and get the exhaust hooked up to the headers and see how this thing runs. Sounds wicked with the big hyd roller cam and open headers.

Thanks for asking. I had a bunch of BB parts setting around, so I thought I would throw them all together and see what happens.

Cam is Crane HR with @.050 dur .244/.254 and .632 lift.
Heads are classic GM 074 aluminum Square ports that have had more makeovers and welding than should be allowed, but I ran them on one of my jet boats for a couple of seasons and they are sound. I ported them and used some 150# springs, 11/32 stem valves and titainium retainers to hopefully get it to RPM.
Compression 10:8
block, zero decked 454 +.100 with 4.250 stroke.

Talk to Mike Kurtz at Century Autmotive, here in Houston, he builds the 9sec. 200-4Rs, or find someone in your area that has a good reputation, he built my TH350 and its still doing fine after 3yrs. (my 200-4R was built by a local, and is holding up fine behind my 383 also, good trans)

I talked to a couple of local trans shops around here before I went to the 200r4 swap. They all thought I was nuts for wanting to use a 200 trans behind a 400hp 400. Thats why I used BTO. I guess I'll price some built 200s that are supposed to handle the power I,m making with the new 505.

Car was pulling very hard before the trans let go though. My wife went with me for the power runs(run) and was smiling for 2 hours after we got home. She said "I loved it, I wasnt expecting it the feel that much faster than the old engine, I was almost glad the trans broke, it was scaring the sh!t out of me, hurry and fix it, I want some more of that" Damn I love her. Now she wants one.
