I figured I should maybe post this here in order to get a few ideas of what types of seam sealer to buy. While, this isn't for my Camaro, I figure GM most likely used similar sealers on their cars (so they could all rust out in due time ).

I'm pretty close to painting my '68 442.

It looks like the trunk channel and the drip rails use a similar sealer. It is white or cream in color. What kind should I purchase? Each area needs a new coat.

I also need to seal the seams on and around my floor board. This is black. Again, what kind should I purchase?

Then there's the cowl. This looks brushed on. What's the best to use?

Lastly, I need to seal the heater box and all items on the firewall. I'm not sure exactly I'm going to get that shot on look, but at least I should get the correct material for sealing. Ideas?

In the end, I'm open to superior materials than what was used originally, as long as it comes somewhat close to an original appearance.

Thanks

For the trunk , filler panel and drip rail seams, I used 3M "fast & firm seam sealer". It's beige/tan in color, comes in a cartridge for a caulking gun and is sandable to some extent, although I wouldn't plan on too much sanding. Seems to work best if ya wet your finger with a bit of laquer thinner:p and dress it out. I did this around 10 yrs ago, was primed over and hasn't changed a bit....'car hasn't been on the road yet either.

Also, on some other projects, I've used 3M "Ultrapro Autobody Sealant" ....seems identical to the fast & firm but comes in a tube that you squeeze.
