Just wanted to ask you body guys the best method to get max clearance on a 69 rear fender lip? im stuffing a 18 x 10- 5.75 b/s and need a little bit o room. How should i go about this ? 'roll' it tight or 'trim' it right back and have the seams rewelded along the edge. Any tips or best method advice?
The car is painted already so dont want to upset things too much.
Thanx a bunch!

Gav, have you tried to put them on. I know everything you read says they wont fit. If you have replacement 1/4s I would try them first. Mine are
18x10 275/35/18 tires and mine never rubbed.

These cars were built for big meats. Bigger than what was available at the time. Here's my slicks on 4.5 bs. They're 10" on the contact patch.

Trim from 10 to 2 o clock, rolling causes to much strain ou the outer panel and wll create more bodywork in most situations

The spots welds SHOULD be outside of the area you will trim. But by all means be sure not to cut them off. Also, be sure to seam seal the edge and brush touch it is it is a painted car.
I have just seen to many cases where thequarter panel get distorted from rolling.
