I purchased a 1050 Dominator(8082) for my 540 Shafiroff Ultra Str. I will
occassionly str drive the car. Have been told they are a bitch on the str and run rich till 3000rpm. I figured since this has a Power Valve it may not
be all that bad. What I'm worried about if I cruise the town and hit a lot
red lights, it may act up. Not a motor guy so I need advice on this carb.
I was told a 4150 would be better str manners but not the HP the Domin-
ator would have. Any advice would be very helpful, do no want to put the
Dominator on and then not be able to return it. I thought the 8082 is OK
for str on occassion.

A 1050 on the street being "a bitch" is a load of BS. A 2 circuit Dominator can work just fine, especially on something as big as a 540.

I have a 2 circuit 1050 that I converted to E85 for my new 427 and it runs AWESOME on the street. So if I can get one to run that good on my 427 you can easily get one to run good on your 540.

Oh, and by the way, the Dominator could be worth an easy 25 HP on your 540.

I ran a 2 circuit 1050 on my 496 Chevelle on the street and it ran great. No problems at all.
