I thought I should start a new post on this. In another post, JohnZ pointed out that the fiber optic ashtray light was only available as part of the ZJ7 Auxiliary Lighting Group, which included it included the ashtray light, courtesy lights, underhood light, trunk light, and glove box light.

When I got my car, it definitely had the ashtray light, and I think I remember the orange wire to the the glove box light, but no evidence of the trunk light. The underhood harness was pretty hacked up, and the original hood was gone, so I don't know about underhood light.

I looked for evidence screw holes for the Courtesy Lights, which I thought were under the dash at the corners, and were essentially the alternative light to the dome light for the convertible but I could not find anything. Admittedly, I did not know exactly what I was looking for.

Can someone provide a pic or description as to exactly where I should be looking, and is there one hole or two for each light.

It really does not matter, but one of those anal retentive things, I'd like to know if my car mistakenly got the ashtray fiber optic, or if it really had ZJ7 lighting group, and many of the pieces were pirated before I got the car.

I was thought the trunk light plugged into the front-to-rear harness where the taillight harness and dome light plugged together. My front-to-rear harness and taillight harness appeared untouched, but there was no extra harness for the trunk light.

I'm not up to the picture posting stage yet but I looked at my '68' which I believe came with the ZJ7 option. First there is one screw on each side for the courtesy light brackets. Driver's side screw is 4 1/8 inches from the kick panel and 1/4 inch from the edge of the lower dash. Passenger side screw is 1 1/8 inches from the kick panel and 1 inch from the edge of the lower dash. Trunk light wiring is orange. There's about a 6 foot section from the light to the first male to female connector . Then the wiring continues to the back of the car outside of the rear lighting harness where it ends with a male connector with a second orange wire coming out of it about 1 inch long that ends with a female connector that powers the license plate light wiring. Hope this helps, RonM.

When John posted that info I didn't remember that my 69 coupe had a trunk light but after reading Ron's description I think it did. I remember the orange wire clipped to the trunk hinge on the drivers side. I have the proper parts for the fiber optic ash tray light and the car had an under hood light but I'm 95% sure it didn't have courtesy lights under the dash. I have owned a car or two with a glove box light and at least one with the courtesy lamps. Is it possible to get just the hood and trunk light with maybe a glove box light?
