View Full Version : Saw one on the road today
DVINNY Mar 30th, 09, 09:07 PM Saw my first one in person today.
It was heading North on I-79 in WV at about 1:00 this afternoon. I have no idea where it was going or where from. I wish I could have seen more. It was a blue one. I couldn't get enough of a look at it to see if it were an SS or not.
Looked just like the one in this pic. Was awesome.

67 Deep Water Blue Mar 31st, 09, 05:21 PM That Blue one might have my name on it. Can't wait to go see one for the 1st time. Sat the 18th is the day, hope we have nice weather, some of us are going to drive up with our 1st gens.
BAMiller Apr 2nd, 09, 06:34 PM I bet that blue car was our GM field service engineer. He was driveing a blue v6 model the other day. He was very touchy about the car, since he got it he keeps getting mobed by people who want to see the car. He said he can't even go to the store to get a gallon of milk because it takes an hour and a half after he talks to all the people. Car looks good I did not get to drive it though.
terps Apr 2nd, 09, 07:12 PM This blue is so much better than the darker one.
DVINNY Apr 6th, 09, 05:04 AM Bill,
if you see him, tell him I'm jealous. :D
DVINNY May 19th, 09, 04:40 AM I saw that one again the other day.

yellow69RS May 19th, 09, 08:11 PM I saw my first one on the road today, caught me by complete surprise. Rush hour traffic he's sitting and I'm rolling the other way. Silver car stood out from the crowd enough to catch my eye. Seems everything on the roads here is silver Or white.

MSCHMIDT9090 May 20th, 09, 04:52 AM Looked at one at the dealership last week. Overall I was impressed with the car, but the paint was terrible. I could not believe the amount of orange peel. The car was black and looked good from a distance, but when you got up closer under the flourescent lights...I was pretty dissapointed.
pontech May 21st, 09, 08:34 PM I work at the local Chevy dealer (one that didnt get cut) and i got to predeliver a 2010 camaro 2ss with the six speed and all i can say is wow!! I took it for a test drive and of course had the traction control off and i can honestly say i was impressed :-) amazing power! definitely going to give the compatition a run for the money
Blade May 21st, 09, 08:35 PM I saw a black one today OMG. They look so bad arse.

I too am currently at "current event 3000" on my order. If anyone knows the time frame, I'd like to know also. There must be some factory execs out there reading this forum from time to time. NO one can give me any idea of a build week.....just seems a little strange to me. I'd just like a ballpark idea of when to expect my car.
faninc May 25th, 09, 04:13 AM It is amazing that they have been in business this long (so far of course) and also planning the new Camaro for over 4-5 years and they have no idea from the factory via the dealer of when a new ordered car will be ready?
There is a reason I guess the stock is at $1.00?
What GM could have been....
Car nut May 25th, 09, 05:07 AM My customer received his around two weeks ago. Silver ss 6 speed, rear spoiler, sunroof.
This was an ordered car. He said no premium was paid. He put electric exhaust cutouts. It is not loud b/c they had to go way in the back for ground clearence. It looks good but I am glad he is going to make the payments not me.
DOUG G May 25th, 09, 07:34 AM There's a yellow one that is running around in the Dundalk/Edgemere area on Md. owned by a radio DJ and She only had it a few weeks now (I haven't seen on the street).
Also a lighter blue one seen yesterday on Rt 1 here in Bel Air Harford Co.,Md. that was going the other way as wife, daughter and I were going to a friends house.... may have seen me as it "chirped" the tires going by the Mall ???
One Yellow one was at Lowe's Friday nite, didn't get to check it out :(
Any numbers on these cars yet (1/4 mile ????)

some text from Car and Driver.com I found interesting . . . . . .
"
How Quick Is It?
With the six-speed automatic, the Camaro SS can hit 60 mph in a scant 4.6 seconds, with the quarter-mile arriving in 13.1 at 109 mph. At 4.8 seconds, the Camaro with the six-speed manual takes 0.2 second longer to hit 60 but overtakes the automatic by the quarter-mile mark, clocking 13 seconds flat at 111 mph. (The L99 V-8 hooked to the automatic is rated for 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque; the LS3-and-manual combo is good for 426 hp and 420 lb-ft.) For comparison, the 315-hp 2010 Ford Mustang GT and the 376-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi-powered Dodge Challenger R/T do the trick in 5.1 seconds. The better-matched but pricier Challenger SRT8—with a 425-horse, 6.1-liter Hemi—hits 60 in 4.8 seconds. So until Ford gets the Mustang GT into the gym and stuffs more power under its hood, Chevy has earned bragging rights in the segment where burliness arguably counts the most. "
DOUG G May 25th, 09, 09:05 AM About what I was thinking
Thanks

Do you know when the car was ordered?
68rs406 May 26th, 09, 10:58 AM Well, I saw four of the new Camaros this weekend, two on the road and two at car shows. I definitely have not been a fan of these cars in pictures I've seen but I will say having seen them in person I like them better.
The first one I drove by was a black one parked, I was in my Camaro sitting at a light and could see the front and Driver side, I actually really liked the look of it. So I drove around the block to look closer and when I pulled up behind I saw the back, and wow it was ugly.... I pretty much came to the decision after seeing two black ones an orange/red one and a blue SS they are really pretty decent looking cars, with exception of the rear end. I also liked the single color leather SS interior much better than the two tone gray/ black one I saw, and I'm not sold overall on the interior, kind of odd looking but not bad, I think it's just a GM thing maybe. My wife however hated the interior, too "puffy" looking she said.
So I think my overall opinion has changed, I hated them but now seeing them the front actually is pretty sharp looking, and from the side they are nice too, kind of short looking with the wheel so far forward in relation to the fender but not bad. Now the rear end, well you can't like it all..;) I definitely like them better than the 4th gens, and put them on par with the Challenger and the Mustang, which is a huge change from my previous takes on them, I think they will grow on me, maybe even the rear end..
DVINNY May 27th, 09, 05:48 PM I liked em from the beginning but they are still growing on me.
My biggest dislike is the rear-end as well.
Birddude68 May 31st, 09, 12:12 PM I saw a Yellow one today and it is the forst one that I have seen in person, I was impressed pictures dont do it any justice, I really like them but do to the fact that cars are WAY over priced these days I am even more motivated to getting to work on my 68...........Dude
DVINNY Jun 1st, 09, 04:50 AM I don't really think they are overpriced when I looked at an Impala SS this weekend that was $32,000 for a 5.3V8 front wheel drive ugly looking thing.
I figure the same cost for a real SS is a much better deal..

Overpriced compared to what other car on the road today? A Mustang? Challenger? Corvette? It is one of the best values since the Trailblazer SS hit showrooms.
JimM Jun 1st, 09, 08:37 PM I saw a yellow one at a dealer saturday, a red one sunday, and a black V6 screamin ass down the intersate today.
Tell me about this trailblazer ss bargain? My wifes trailblazer (6 cyl, ext, LT, loaded) stickered over 40k, back in 04. I don't know about any bargains on these gold plated suv's.

You could buy a Trailblazer SS 2wd cloth interior truck with a MSRP near $31K nice bang for the buck in a nice truck like that, yours was pretty decked out :D
JimM Jun 1st, 09, 08:42 PM lmao, ok then. Sorry, I don't do cloth seats.
They REALLY hit you for the dvd player, too.
OverAnxious Jun 1st, 09, 08:43 PM LOL Most people opt for the AWD Leather optioned out version it seems.

Value? I don't think I would go that far, more importantly how much is it worth now?
Cool trucks and all but wayyy too much money for what you are getting, in my opinion. Just sayin.

Can't think of many vehicles produced in the USA last 20 years that go up in value.
I refer to the TBSS as value since there isn't another vehicle in the GM fleet that gave you the flexibility, looks and performance that it does for a click over $30K. You can tow your toys, take friends for the weekend and take it to the track and have some fun all in one package :D

I see your point for sure, but I meant the fact most GM vehicles and even most domestics for the most part hit the crapper right after you buy them. It sucks too because I think thats another reason they don't sell as well.
All cars lose value just some much much faster than others. My parents caddys lose value like a rock (no pun intended :D ), and even the vettes are not a whole lot better, but slightly.
Not bashing them though, I like the look of the trailblazer SS and the fullsize too for that matter, they just don't hold their value.
DVINNY Jun 10th, 09, 04:42 AM I've been looking for a used TB SS for the last couple of months. I currently have a TrailBlazer EXT with the 5.3L V8, but want the 6.0L.
I want a late model used one with < 30,000 miles. So that someone else takes the $$ depreciation.

I know of two in the FOR SALE area on www.MotownMuscle.com in the Detroit area.
DVINNY Jun 15th, 09, 04:47 AM yeah, I'm seeing quite a few now.
Mid State Chevy in WV had 3 for sale. http://www.midstatechevy.com/
jr68 Jun 15th, 09, 09:42 AM Have only seen 2 on the road so far, a yellow and a silver.
The silver looks great.
DVINNY Jun 28th, 09, 06:45 AM Well,
my buddy got his Red SS in, and I took my '68 over last night to check it out. The car is awesome, of course, once I got over there, I realized in my hurry I forgot the camera.
I told him that we will get our two red Camaro's together this week so we can get some old and new pics of them together.
It is a beautiful car in person.
I also drove side by side with a "Bumblebee" yesterday as well on the way to see my buddy's new red one. It looked really good from all angles.
