: choosing the correct headers
mhaseleu03 Mar 31st, 09, 05:40 PM iI am restoring a 70 RS and my brother has a 72 with a big block in it, his headers are so low that they rub a lot and his height is stock. I am dropping mine 1.5-2" and need to find some headers that will tuck up next to the floor board so they do not rub. Does anyone know what brand of headers will work without hanging so low.

The oil pan sits lower than the header tubes:yes:. They fit very snug to the floor. Be prepared to drop some coin on 'em:yes: but the quality and craftsmanship in second to none:thumbsup::yes:. I will try to add a couple of ground clearance pictures that are shot from the different angles in a few days......expecting severe thunderstorms with hail and possible tornado's for the next 2 days so I'll have to wait for a couple of days to take the additional pictures:(.

lluciano77 Apr 4th, 09, 07:47 PM Don't take this as a guarantee, but if you are dropping your car down and using lowering springs, you may actually get less scrapage than you would with the factory height worn out springs. I had a friend with a '68 Camaro with an SBC. He went out and got shorty headers because his header flanges used to hit on the worn out old springs. He put new springs in and found that the shortys he bought were for nothing. The problem was worn out springs, not headers hanging down. Your BBC is definitely more weight over the front, but I think with a good set of headers and new springs, you won't have any issues.
