View Full Version : Broken Seat Belt Buckle

I had some work done on my rear floors and trunk and while it was in the shop, it looks as if someone stepped on, or put a grinder down hard on one of my front seat belts. The belt buckle is crushed, and I can't use the upper belt. Not that I ever do.
My question is do I have to replace the whole belt or can I get a replacement buckle.
I think I have seen the buckles separately, and I guess what I am asking is what is the easiest fix?

Brian, if you ar talking about the standard plastic female buckle cover, just replace it. They make repro covers, or you can buy used and swap them.

You know what Kevin after I posted this I went back and looked at the Classic catalogue on line and I saw that they make the covers. I didn't realize it would be that simple. I will head out to my local yard and pick one up, or if not I will buy a repop.
Is it simply a pop on and off type of deal, or is there a "special tool" required?

They come off relatively easy by spreading the sides open with a pair of screw drivers. Practice on one you don't care about first (like your damaged one), because it is possible to crack them. 40 year-old plastic can get a bit brittle.

One end has a little lip that hooks on and then you angle other other end down, just that simple. :)
