I am rebuilding / restoring a Holley 780 from a DZ motor. It is pretty badly carboned up. I had a little Gumout from about 20 years ago. The stuff cleaned and worked like a charm, but I only had a small spurt and the can was empty. So, I bought a new can of Gumout the other day. It was like baby formula! I went back and bought a can of Berryman (on the advice of this forum). It was a little better but nothing like the OLD formula I remember.
So what works? Has the EPA ruined ALL of the modern day solvents? ......Jb

I use brake cleaner in the aerosol can. Works pretty good. An old toothbrush comes in handy.

I use the Super Tech aerosol brand from Wal Mart. It's cheap so you can buy several cans and despite being a discount brand it's some mean stuff. Don't be couped up with it in non ventilated area or it's lights out time.

I even clean my hands with brakleen that stuff works the best. It also doesn't leave that oily film on your parts like carb cleaner.
