just wanted to say aloha from hawaii to all the chevy lovers. new to this so i hope someone can help. bought a unfinished project (paint, engine, trans done, no glass) and want to start but getting all kinds of feedback on where to start. some say wiring first, others say go from engine back, does anyone have any suggestions as this will be my first total build from ground up. thanks for all your help, chevy rules!

Welcome to the team. I think I'd go suspension and brakes, wiring, engine, glass, interior. It needs to stop before it can run and the interior last so it does get messed up as other work gets done. JMHO

Suspension and brakes are where I started with my mustang, but I bought the Camaro restored already. BTW, where in Hawaii are you? I'm in Kailua.

It's a '67 and it's actually my wife's. Don't tell anyone here, but I have a 68 mustang fastback and the wife has the Camaro. We've been bringing the Camaro to everyone local event we can. Last weekend we did the Hawaii Kai Costco cruise. If the new tranny is done by next weekend we're going to the Mililani show.

I agree with Jeff -- get the suspension right and make the car safe first -- then focus on mechanical/electrical (engine, trans, wiring), and do the interior last.

Ground up restoration, start at the bottom and work your way up. Frame and suspension first. Welcome to the site.

We may not go at all. We're swapping in a 700r4 and the mustang on the mainland awaiting a resto. We may just take my truck just so we can see all the cars. 808camaros will be there. We are meeting the club folks for the first time this weekend. Check out their website at 808camaros.com
