View Full Version : Howling windows?

Anyone else have windows that make that howling noise when going up and down. I think that it may be the felt guides that rest on the window are worn out. What makes me think this is that I have little scratched trailes that go up on the glass on both sides by the interior door locks. I've lubed the regulators, but no fix.

I can't find those felt guides anywhere. I'm thinking that I should just find some bulk felt and glue it to the old guides.

Thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated.
Also, I have a 67RS/SS with standard interior if that matters.

felt guides usually come with new window fuzzy kit... re; scratches at the door lock knob area.... on 67 there are screws that sometimes rub the glass, due to wrong screws (head too big) or worn window fuzzies.... maybe time for new ones alot cheaper than new glass
Here is a kit from Ground UP... they don't say the felts are included, I'd call and ask them

Also since it's a 67 you might need a set of vertical run channels....

I've got some bad verticle scratching on my drivers window near the door lock too. It appears to be from the rear guide. I think I could rebuild it if it comes out. Anybody know how to get these guides out? Must have to remove the interior door panel?

There are 2 screws holding the top of the guide on, screws are under the window felt weather strip

Can you get it out the top or do you have to remove the door panel?

If you plan on reusing the window felt weather strip, you will need to remove the door panel so you have access to the clips on the back of the window felt weather strip. There are also 2 screws, front and rear of the window felt weather strip. Once the window felt weather strip is out of the way, you will have access to the screws for the window guide.
