I have a 68 Camaro I am getting ready to swap the rear end in, right now it has a 8 1/2" unit with a spooler, but only 2 U bolts hold the axles to the springs, is that how Camaro's came from the factory? I took one (another 8 1/2" unit) from a 73 Nova and it was the same but it seems like that is not enough to me. I remember my S-10 had 4 bolts, so did my 55 Chevy.

Mine didnt even have U bolts. It had T bolts. When I replaced my springs I used Ubolts (4). I have seen quite a few running one u bolt per side then 2 t bolts on each side...

Low performance 1st gens used four T-bolts per side. High performance models got a U-bolt on the outboard position, and T-bolts on the inboard postion on each side.
Most of us go with two U-bolts per side.

OK, thanks, yeah mine has those t bolts on the inside as well, but I think I'll go with 4 new U bolts myself too.
