Has snyone replaced the black paper backing behind the plastic faceplate on the heater controls ('69) ? Did you make one or does someone sell it? Thank you.

Lol!!!:D
Back when I was a kid and didn't have a garage, the original paper started to peel. I ordered a new one. To this day, at least 30 years later, the replacement paper is still floating around my tool box. Either my eyes got worse or the original paper settled back into place.
Oh, I bought it from Classic. One of their first products.

I checked classic and firewheel. Doesn't look like it's carried anymore

I went and found some satin black colored vinyl with not too much texture on a 3 ring binder at Wal-Mart and cut out the exact shape using the plastic cover piece of the heater control.
Don't forget to cut out where the light shows through.

If it's still in decent shape you can hit it with a couple of light coats of rattle-can black dye, like SEM.
