Thanks Tony Musclerodz Apr 3rd, 09, 06:25 PM 18-20 hours at whatever your local shop rate is. agarvy Apr 3rd, 09, 09:56 PM And the cost of a Vintage Air System???? ProdigyCustoms Apr 4th, 09, 04:29 AM We are 20 hours (20 hours X $60), + $100 to vacuum and charge the system, and the system runs $1200. For what it is worth, the system install is a basic mechanics install with basic hand tools. I have had 100s of mail order customers install their own. funbnme Apr 4th, 09, 10:44 AM A shop down here quoted me 1200 about a year ago. That was for the vintage air system and installation. I was looking around for a car and got a quote in case I found one that didn't have a/c in it. The vintage air system they use was around 800-900. I think it's the one with the manual sliders, not electric. Oldrocker Apr 4th, 09, 11:26 AM A shop down here quoted me 1200 about a year ago. That was for the vintage air system and installation. It would be impossible to buy the unit and install it for that price, at least at a professional level. That would equal out to less than $100 a day for labor. If the shop is that cheap I would hate to see the end result. I've done a couple of them and the total price with labor parts and tax was close to $2500. agarvy Apr 4th, 09, 12:46 PM Being quoted that price and having it done for it is a different story. Do you have to put the Vintage Air sliders in or can it use the first gen car's sliders? ProdigyCustoms Apr 4th, 09, 09:12 PM We have sold 100s of Vintage Air for Camaros, and installed more then we can count. The old cable units do not hold a candle to the newer improved Gen IV electronic unit. The Gen IV is simply the best aftermarket A/C system ever. As for controls, there are some minor modifiacations that allow you to use your factory controls with a new plaqard with all the proper commands Your welcome to call with any system or installation questions. agarvy Apr 5th, 09, 11:45 AM Thanks for the heads up on Gen IV 69SS 350 5 Speed Apr 8th, 09, 06:32 AM I installed the Gen IV in the Camaro this past fall when I put in the crate engine and TKO 500. The most difficult part is getting the old housing out of the engine compartment. Fortunately I had the engine out and the hood off. The install of the system is time consuming must it's not rocket science. Best damn A/C system on the market. hhott71 Apr 9th, 09, 10:38 AM About 20 hours minimum as stated before plus the unit, charging and any incidentals that your unique vehicle requires. |
