Hello to everyone! Finally after many years the 68 is in my hands and will be turned into its former beauty. My dad has had this car since 1973 and it was passed on to me. We never let him sell it. This was a daily driver until a few years ago when he noticed it was attracting attention from some some suspicious people. So it was parked and put away. I now have it and want to restore it. Addressing the safety items first. Does anyone have experience with U.S. Vs Import side view mirrors. What is the difference between them aside from the more expensive U.S. made. Strangely, this camaro had 67 style side mirrors. I have pictures from 1974 to prove it. Its a 250 cu which I plan to keep it as. I
posted some pics if ya'll get a chance to look at. It will once again be Grotto Blue!! And I would appreciate any insight. Cheers.

I bought some of the cheap import mirrors because of the big price difference thinking "how bad can they be". Its turned out to be one of those "you get what you pay for" things. They are on my car, but I'm not proud of them.

Oscar,

Same here. The problem with the import mirrors is with the inferior metal & poor castings allow the mirror to move around too freely on the ball swivel. The mirror end usually develops a crack and then it's lights out forever!

Sorry to hear of your dad's passing, but certainly glad he held on to the Camaro to pass it along to you.

And by all means, WELCOME to the BEST website for 1st Generation Camaros-------- simply none better.

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome. And thank you for the advice. I will definitely look to get the US made ones. My dad didn't pass away he simply gave me the car. I am sorry to have made you guys think that he passed away. But thanks a lot. I hope to participate a lot in the future with TC.
