Can anyone give me some ideas here? I have a '69 Z/28 and the drivers side rear sits a little lower than the passenger side. I put new 5-leaf springs in it from Rick's and new rear shocks but it continues to sit a little lower on the drivers side. I spoke with Rick's tech and they told me that the frame may be tweeked a little and needs to be straightened. Any thoughts on this? Thanks very much.

If not try disconnecting the lower shock mounts and putting the car back down on the ground and check the stance.

You could also try loosening the shackle to frame and shackle to spring bolts and bouncing the car a bit. Be sure the car is on the ground when you tighten them back up.

And the same problem it could also be caused by bad subframe bushings. Oh and the easiest to over look is tire inflation...

Let's hope it's not a frame issue!

What many people don't realize is that a tweaked front sub-frame can cause this ! A simple way to make it look right, is to add a spacer to the LEFT front coil spring. This will raise the left front and lower the RIGHT rear. This should "level" out the stance. You can experiment, by putting a floor jack under the left front A-arm spring pocket, and raise the car slightly, and see how it looks.

Dennis; thanks for the great info. I'm new here, so I'm not sure yet how to find archived posts, but I appreciate it very much. I'm going to take a look at spring shackles first, although this car has been relatively original through and through.

Tom - thank you. Maybe Rick's was right. I think the previous owner may have had a big block in this car at one time and may have tweeked it with so much torque. I will experiment with this as well. Any ideas on where I can get a spacer for under the coil spring? Thanks again.

Summit has spacers. Usually starting at 1/4".

Amazing...I just ran out and checked ground clearance on drivers vs. passenger side on front spring pockets and the pass. side is a full in higher. Looks like I have the wrong spring pocket on one of them; think I'll replace both to be sure they are correct. Thanks for the insight; I've been pontificating over this for years. By spring pockets... do you mean the lower control arm ? Make sure your car is on level ground ! when checking this way !

I think he's talking about the front of the leaf spring pockets. Read the thread I linked to. If his pictures worked you would see the difference in a Nova spring pocket and one from a Camaro.

Guys; what I meant to say was that I measured from garage floor (level) to each of the front spring shackles and the pass side is actually higher than the drivers side. I then tried the experiment of raising drivers front coil mount and checking rear-end. I had to raise the front wheel off the ground before it had any effect on how the rear sits. I'm going to try to change the front leaf spring mounts first. My sense is that it may take care of the problem; if not I'll be out of my mind once again...thanks again for your help.

We are all mostly out of our minds or we wouldn't have these cars anyway!
