Guys, I posted comments at http://www.hirev-tuners.com
Click on "View my guestbook".
They may have pulled my post by the time u read this, but here is what I posted - lol:
What is your name? John Milner
Do you have any comments? Is this the website for that Hi-Rev tuners show on speed channel? There used to be a similar show prior to this where Griff Allen told the kids at the end of the show - "don't get caught!". I contacted the state police in his state on him - hope they got him good. Also blew the whistle on that fat man on "Dream Car Garage" who speeds on public roads!!!!
The [ H O N D A ] kids today know NOTHING about cars. All hondas RUST after 10 years - they are made like crap - waaaaay overrated. ANY 4 cylinder "hi po" exhaust SOUNDS as good as rusted old cars LOOK - in the junkyard - they sound like crap! & 4 door cars with all those crappy tacky decals look like crap too!! I AM NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL - ESPECIALLY AT SUCH 4 DOOR CARS - 4 DOORS ARE FOR O L D PEOPLE! I'D RATHER W A L K THAN DRIVE A 4 DOOR. In ANY 4 cylinder, there is no torque at LOW rpm. I laff at all the money they pay to give it the same power as a regular gas low compression big inch v8. lol Hey lazy kids!!: get an old AMERICAN big engine car that needs to be restored & LEARN SOMETHING about cars & WORK on them, you lazy spoiled brat kids of today!!! You brag about your honda cars, when in most cases PROFESSIONALS DO ALL THE WORK F O R YOU: stupid things like tv sets in cars - what idiots - & replacing airbag steering wheels with non airbag steering wheels. & ANY car that has replacement WHITE rear turn signals (illegal) when they should be Y E L L O W !!!Watch out in northern NJ! I take license numbers of EVERY car I see with such replaced steering wheels & way too loud & obnozious exhaust systems & WHITE rear turn signals & I give them to my brother who is a COP!!! He finds their address, keeps an eye on the car & nails it when in motion. Anybody else who hates these rice burners, report illegal ones to the police in YOUR area!!! That's why this country is in such trouble today - you keep buying foreign crap & allowed the f bodies to die. If you want hondas so bad, go live in Japan!!

Tell us how you really feel! :D

Although it's not my personal cup of tea, I support their right to modify these cars. A lot of them aren't any different than we are, they want to hot rod and modify their cars. They just start with a different car. Now there are a lot of "posers" that can be irritating, but again "whatever floats their boat". I wouldn't be caught dead in a lot of those cars, but would never want to see their right to do it taken away, as we'd be a quick step behind them. Plus they're good for the aftermarket industry and the economy in general.

Wow, rough post, I have an 18-year son and he has lots of friends over all the time. They like all those rice burners and they love to show me, (an old guy), their cars. I’ve also noticed they’re very open minded and take a genuine interest in the old 68 Camaro on the side of the house, they keep asking for rides when it’s ready. I hope in their lives they stay that way.

Man, what set this guy off???
Part of what makes the hobby interesting is the variety.
We may not always like what the other guy does but it is his/her wallet and his/her car.
Some of these younger people put a lot of effort and $$$ into their cars. Why not compliment them on that rather than slam them because it is not your preference.
Although I love my Camaro, imagine how boring a car show or grudge nite would be if everyone had a Camaro with a warmed over small block.

i 4 1 am glad to see kids expressing themselves with there cars today.i personally could do without the tailpips.i really dought that the best thing your brother being a "COP" has to do is sit around wasting his time trying to get some kid with the wrong color turn signal.i am also guessing you are a kid yourself.hope you find better ways to waste your time.

I've been mulling over my thoughts on the progression of the automobile hobby as a whole for a long time. It took me a long time to accept the rice-burner aspect of the hobby. I have to admit that I think it's great that this generation of drivers isn't just accepting what the auto industry offers and is keeping the performance part of the hobby going. I still don't understand why they prefer rice-burners, but at least they're becoming gearheads in their own way. I applaude them for their efforts.

I don't know who's guiding them because I have no desire to learn about the import performance craze and will not even pick up an import magazine to try and learn a thing or two, but the one thing I'll never understand and always laugh at is the useless body mods and big wings, stickers, noisy exhaust tips, etc. If you look at the auto hobby as a whole, those things are really the only differences between someone with a classic Camaro or Mustang and someone with a Celica or CRX.
Underneath, both groups are looking for performance mods and improvements, trying to make the car more fun to drive. I'd hop on the rice bandwagon quicker if they'd just get rid of the gawdy graphics and air dams. To me, that just ruins an otherwise potentially sweet import 'hotrod'.

Yeah, there's this jerk around here: Every time he starts his POS up it annoys everyone. It's loud and stinky and knocks the pictures off the wall. The guy for sure has illegal (bald) tires on the car. All the emissions systems are removed.

Everytime I used to drive the car the cops would be looking for me to hassle me.

I was the jerk and this was my 1980 Z28. Now that I'm 37 the cops generally don't hassle me anymore. I don't give them any reason to.

I'd say the same thing about rice boys. If they mind their own business and act respectable then there's no reason to penalize the whole bunch because a couple of them act like idiots.

Well I look at things this way. Yeah I think these foreign import cars with the funky mufflers and loud stereo's and the graphics are not really my type or taste, but the fact of the matter is, these kids today, were me, you and a lot of others, doing the same thing years ago, and now with us complaing, we're doing what our parents did back then, with us. The one thing I would like to see stopped, is these kids doing serious street racing. I can handle the way their cars look and sound, but I can't handle seeing someone getting kill, by kids loosing control of their cars. Now that to me is a bigger issue then white tail lamps......

At least there spending there money on parts and mods and not bullets, and drugs.

The best part is when they pull up beside you and there girlfriend gives you a thumbs up for driving a cool car that her boyfriend couldn't build in the first place. LOL

I actually respect the import craze, and hope that one day a ricer gives me a run for my money.

I'm with the crowd. These kids need something to fill their time and these rice burners and beer burners for the european crowd are the cars of their age. We love Camaro's and doing what we do to them. We'll never have the power to weight ratio they do unless we invest a lot of money. Does that make them dumb and us smart?

This forum is for helping fellow car owners. If they keep with doing their mods and work who cares what it take. This also leaves more cars and parts for us.

The real kicker is this Dumba** posted it on a dead site.

God Bless America... we can't live with out freedom...Lets kill this post!

Johnmilner, I personally think the 'rice-burners' as you like to call them, are pretty neat!
I like to see your car 'racing' against a 4 door Mitsubishi evo 7 or something like that.... Be surprised when the psi of the turbo is higher than stock!!

My brother in law had a Renault 5 GT turbo, it was a 1.4 liter!! 4 cylinder with a turbo, front wheel drive and weighs 880kg excluding the driver...
The d*mn thing ran mid-high 14's after we raised the turbo boost by changeing the turbo with another!! It has 115hp stock, after the trick it should had over 250... (we only tested it with his other car which had 173hp on the front wheels and weighs 650kg as it is a race car.....from 0-100mls/hr the race-car DID NOT came closer!!)

Try to do the same with a 2.4 liter engine...do your math and see the potential!

Cars are cars, wether it are imports or US cars, Chevy vs Ford, Camaro vs Chevelle, What's next.....SS vs Z/28??!!

I have great respect for anyone who gets their hands dirty modifying any car for better performance. I know several people who have "ricers" that are sleeper performance cars- they look stock and haul a$$! Some guys put a lot of thought and effort into their cars to make them better performers and they deserve respect for it.

The cars I do not like are the poser cars where the only performance mods are a fart can, some stickas and a huge aluminum drag racing wing tacked onto the trunk lid (thats just what you want on a front drive car right, something to force the rear end down!). Body mods are ok if they are tasteful and serve some purpose. For some of these guys the body mods are the easiest thing they can do so they do it.

To each his own, but I still reserve the right to laugh my a$$ off (and I do every day) when I see poser cars!

I gotta chime in here as well............
My first love has always been 1st generation Camaros. I think they are probably one of the most beautifully styled cars ever.
However, my daily driver is a 1998 Honda Accord EX-V6 coupe. It is Honda #7. I bought my first one in 1971 and have absolutely loved every one of them. I am contemplating buying a new coupe next year. The car is absolutely stock. No loud trash can sized muffler, not slammed, no obnoxiously oversized rear spoiler or anything like that. Nor will it ever be. (Unless my son wants to do that after he gets it next year.) It is without a doubt one of the most bullet-proof, dependable, nicely put together cars on the road.
You can't compare my Accord to my Camaro. They are two totally different cars built for two totally different reasons.
I remember in high school I owned a 1961 VW that I stuck "Flower Power" flowers all over. I took the exhaust stingers out of the muffler because I thought it made it sound cool. Teenagers and young people today are just doing the same thing. They just have a lot more money.

Man, i am 14 and i am not the biggest fan of the import scene, but this was almost uncalled for. If you don`t like it thatn don`t like it you don`t have to bash the kids for it. You say that the kids get most of their work done by pro`s? Im sure half of the ppl on this site get their engines done by machine shops and body work done by body shops, what is the difference?? I don`t know why but if you are a first gen guy you probrobly like loud cars and big engines? well those engines get loud and annoying to some people and im sure that you wouldn`t be so happy to have people calling cops on you for being too loud. And im sure there are people out there that will think just because its a camaro that its going to be fast and loud. Well if you had people caling the police to keep an eye on you, you probrobaly wouldn`t like that very much. As Many have already said, it give the kids something to keep them busy. You say they are spoiled? Just because they have a fixed up car that has alot of work done to it, does that make them spoiled? I have a 68 camaro with a 454 and will go in the 11`s street driven, i have worked since i was 11 years old to pay for every penny on this car. Does that make me spoiled? I would never own an import, i am an american kid and have american cars. But as we all know muscle cars are gettin scarce, however these imports are a dime a dozen, so its more of an availability thing, there are many after market parts and mods available for these widly available cars, That is why there are so many kids doing this. Im not "bashing" or anything im just justifying y these kids do this, they are just like you, they like fast cars and wanna get a nice car........

Sorry if this was a little long, but it kinda annoyed me a little that you posted that.

I have to put my two cents in here as well. I'm not a big fan of the imports and will never own one, but I respect those gearheads regardless of what they drive. It used to be Chevy vs Ford, but now it's American muscle cars vs imports. Times have changed and so do the cars. Every generation has a set of cars that interest them. Todays kids like the imports. When I bought my first new car it was a 96 Camaro RS. I was 23, just out of college, and living at home. I had no real bills. I wanted a z28, but the insurance was over $6000. Even though I was living at home, I still couldn't afford to drive a z28. I couldn't afford to make payments and drive the car year round. I settled for the v6 and I still have it along with my 69. I always loved Camaro's. I grew up with them. I'm sure many of todays kids would love to drive American muscle cars, but lets face it, they are not the most practical cars for everyday use. It snowed quite a bit this year and a camaro sucks in the snow. Plus there is no room in car. Todays kids modify the cars they can afford to buy, maintain and insure. I know it is a hell of a lot cheaper to insure a civic then a z28 for someone under 25. Give the kids some credit.

Im not into the tuner cars but as I read in a magazine once about the Ford , Mopar , Chevy battle we better work together or Big Brother will shut us all down. I saw a CRX on a chasis dyno 2L turbo made 600hp at the front wheels.Engine was using stock crank & rods , slicks & stock tranny. That is impressive no matter what anybody says.Car was setup for drag racing full cage aluminum interior.

I have to add my .02:
The cars the kids have now are the "hot rods" of the future. Think about it; the only rear drive car left is the Mustang, The only affordable cars for the younger folks are the Hondas, Toyotas etc.
I don't personally care for the genre but that is what they have to work with. And they are fast!
Not everyone can have a 60's muscle car these days.

I have to agree with everyone, while I do not care for the import scene, I certainly hope this Milner person did not leave a trail back to us because it doesn't reflect well upon us. I don't think alot of the kids of my generation are really gearheads because most of these 'tuners' aren't doing the work of what older generations are doing. I did have an S10 that I did do performance work on, including a supercharger, but I did the work myself. That's where I really started to take pride in my vehicle is when someone enjoyed the work I did and really started learning about how things work. It makes the countless busted knuckes, cuts, scrapes, and bruises worth it. Now I've got a 1968 Camaro with a 327 and am now learning how to work with carbeurators and all that. Even though I've got alot to learn about older engines and the like, I take great pride in the work I have done and what I've learned. Unfortunately, also, for the 'tuner' crowd, these cars take alot more money to put down the numbers alot of American V8s do is alot more than the average kid can handle. Granted it takes alot of money to build a good V8, it's still far cheaper than to tune a 4 or 6 cylinder. I do have the respect for those who put the time and work into their car to put down those big numbers.

Anybody who would write that load of garbage to anyone on any board on any topic - is a chimp.

Why bring that crap over here? Why post it in performance?

Well fellas Im 20. I live at home work 10-12 hours a day and spend every dime i have on my 73 Nova, does that make me spoiled? Now I hate imports just as much as the next guy,and they are undisputidly slow, {hell if i had a turbo and some "nauss" on my Nova id probably go 9's} and ill bash em all day long right with ya BUT all theyre doing is modifying what they have. Its just like what half you 50 year old guys did back when you got your first GTO or Chevelle. You got headers, a good Hurst shifter, recurved your distributer and possibly put in a cam. Whats the difference? and im guessing that people bashed you and didnt like the Noise you made and the good times you had. So get off their asses about what they do, because Im a dieing breed of hotrodder, im the exception to the rule. Most 20 year olds could care less about making a 73 Nova go fast. I will state again...I HATE IMPORTS but they help keep our drag strips open and its keeping the hobby interesting.

"hey, i know what will make the Camaro guys think i'm cool. I'll show them how i bashed imports on a dying webpage that only 3 other people in the world know exists. yeah, they will think i'm cool."
funny how he hasn't popped back up and defended his reasoning behind posting this.
i am no fan of most of the import scene, but i have come to the conclusion that it isn't any different than the "musclecar scene". i know of more hopelessly slow, loud, thumpin stereo equipped "musclecars" than i would care to admit to. just like the musclecar scene, about 10% are actually fast, the rest are either stock or have wheels or something put on them- and the loud exhaust, of course.

Well, I am going to throw in my two cents here. I am not a big supporter of rice burners but there are a few American made sport compacts. The Chevy Cavalier, Pontiac Sunfire and the Ford Focus (yuck). My son has a 98 Cavalier that is heavily modified and I helped him do alot of the work. He has added radical ground effects, headers and high flow exhaust, nitrous, forged pistons, ignition upgrades, lowering springs, and many other goodies. What he does not change is any safety or emissions features. He loves his parents Camaros and knows that one day they will be his. In the meantime he has his own little hot rod.

Hey Novaguy, I agree man. I attend the U of A, and I'm surrounded in a pool of fart can imports and Beamers. While they're not my favorite, they do keep our tracks open. I know I got a little bit worried when I saw that Merlin makes a block for Hondas, but so what. If they're putting out enough power to require a better block, then they'll probably whoop my a$$. Some of these kids are spoiled and some work 10-12hours a day.

For those who want a taste of history, I read a book called "Kandy-Kolored Tangerine Flake Streamline Baby". It was written by John Wolfe who was journalist who hung out with George Barris, when he was younger. I was doing a research paper on the import phenomenon, I read this book, and it opened my eyes. The hot rodding in the 50's is NO different than the imports today. Can you imagine cops busting an illegal street race full of hot rods, 32 Fords, 50 Mercs and the like. Sounds crazy but those kids were punks.
History repeats itself, like what is happening right now. The WWII is over, you can buy Japanese, its okay. I was in the sport truck scene until a little over a year ago. Sport trucks get as much heat here from the cops as the imports do. I drove a full size GMC that got pulled over for taillights/corner lights/mudflaps/ehaust (illegal). So if it makes any of you feel better, most cops aren't out to get one kind of car. They just want to stop the illegal, and right the wrong.
Hopefully I'll be an engineer in a couple of years. And I always wanted to work for the General, but if Toyota, or Honda hired me, I'd put my heart into making those cars better/faster. If your still not convinced, then just think every poser car you see makes yours look that much better. That's all I have to say Peace Out!

Hey guys, I just wanna state the fact that one guy mentioned that he posted on another website, then like 30 guys proceeded to flame him saying that he's an import nazi and an idiot and what not, all criticizing him for not being open minded. I smell irony, and it stinks.

Maybe he's a little misled, well now he's never gonna learn or post here again after this fiasco. Cut him a little slack, I can remember a time when I would have done the same thing. Radical views die off with experience, and instead of being understanding about it, ya'll have turned him into the next Hitler after one post!

this is insane. Dont get down so much on this johnmilner dude, I feel the same way I just dont go posting it anywhere cuz its pointless. When Im scootin around town in my camaro I get thumbs up from people driving other chevy, dodge, and ford muscle cars. When I get near some little punk in a honda or whatever they always try to race and rev their little engines with those big stupid mufflers. Ive talked to alot of them and most dont know the first thing about building or tuning a performance engine. Thats just my experience, not trying to start anything but lets settle down a bit about this Im sure some of you have had simular thoughts and/or feelings about this.
