I'm trying to get my interior installed this Spring and I have a bunch of questions. First, let me say this - I'm still learning the lay of the land here, so if I'm doing anything wrong i.e. outside of protocol, please set me straight.

1) Interior rear quarter panels - the flap of material at the bottom of the panel...Does this get glued around to the back of the panel, or does it fit under the carpeting somehow?

2) Windlace - can somebody explain to me exactly how the metal clip mounts at the top of the windlace? Does it go behind the window fuzzy, I'd have to drill the window fuzzy. On top of the u-shaped door seal or under it? I'm assuming that it mounts below the window fuzzy and behind the door seal; since the windlace has a slot, and the door seal has a screw hole.

3) I have a small hole through my floor; very close to the backrest mounting clip for back seat. It looks like it belongs there, but I'm not sure what it could be for. It looks like it is mounted with a smooth collar. This is on the drivers side; an inch or two to the inside of the backrest clip. Also; anyone know where I can get the bolts that hold the seat backrest down?

4) I painted my kickpanels and the paint just flaked off; idiot. Should I use a primer, etc. first? I have to remove them to seal the vent area anyway; idiot. and I think I will remove heater and replace firewalll seal while I'm at it. Any advice and/or tricks that you can provide? What should I use to seal the kick panels?

5) I have a sub-woofer in the trunk and 6x9's on the rear deck. Should I Dynamat the rear deck around the speakers, or will this limit/negate my bass coming from the trunk? I'm thinking that there is little opportunity for the bass to make it into the passenger compartment as it is, not sure if it makes sense to further limit that.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Sometimes it helps to post a pic or 2 with your questions :)

1) goes under carpet, wraps around the pinch weld and is held by glue and the windlace.
2) yes behind the window fuzzy... there should be a hole there, be sure to use a small head screw so you don't end up with scratches on your glass.
3) need a pic (seat belt maybe??)... site sponsor Ground UP should have the bolts I believe they are 5/16" x 1" (maybe 3/4" long, I'll see if I have a set handy to take a pic) sheet metal screws with a large washer.
4) Check into SEM® products for plastic and vinyl prep steps and products....

I haven't tried it yet, but Krylon makes a spray paint now that is advertised as being just for plastics. It is supposed to adhere much better. You might buy a can of that and test it on something to see how it does.

Thanks guys - I'd love to post pictures for clarity; I'm still trying to figure out how. I've registered for photobucket, but can't quite navigate it yet. Thanks for your help.

About the speakers-I have the same dilemna. I am going to put some little enclosures around (behind) my 6 X 9's to keep the subwoofer resonance from affecting them. They show some enclosures for a 2nd gen. in Classic Ind. catalog, but I think you can get better ones at a car stereo place.
Good luck,
John

for the bass you point it towards the back of car and no dynomat as that will absorb the sound of the bass.

Krylon Fusion. Works great in my opinion. I tried it out on the plastic back of a seat and it worked fine. As with anything, proper preparation is key.

Then yesterday I dug my kick panels out and cleaned them up. They are in pretty worn shape which disappointed me, but not broken or unusable. They had overspray from some past paint jobs the car had and soem scuffed up areas that looked like hell.
I scrubbed them down with a good cleaner then sprayed them with Krylon Fusion satin black. Came out great! And the temps were right at the low end of specifications for painting when I did it. I didn't use any primer first.

I'm going to do my console with it now that I've seen how the kick panels came out. Maybe even the cheapy repro dash pad.
