Im moving this to the Elec. section where your other post is, seems the best place for it. hallysport Apr 6th, 09, 04:43 PM you might want to check your linkage to the wipers for binding. on the back of the motor there is a round ball-like fitting that slides into the linkage and has two bolts that set the tension on the ball.could be rusted or too tight.yes it should have 2 speeds.if it is the original, it could be just worn out bigsteve Apr 6th, 09, 05:07 PM sorry, but I had no reply's when posted on the electrical. Its the original motor. click Apr 6th, 09, 06:39 PM When you dont get replies right away, give your post a 'bump' up by adding a line to it again. That keeps it toward the top. Just dont post it in another section again. (site policy) Also, at times, some folks dont get replies quickly as it is a weekend or good weather or folks are busy with spring cleaning etc. etc. There isnt a guarantee of a quick answer to any question, but given some time you will generally find a good answer. Mat Klemp Apr 6th, 09, 06:41 PM The motors can be disassembled and re-greased, however they are staked together and dis-assembly will destroy the original look. I've seen them re- assembled with what look like upholstery grommets in drilled out staking holes. Before you do anything. Double check and clean all the electrical connections, especially the grounds. TTFN Mat dawg Apr 6th, 09, 07:56 PM I found that advance auto has them at a good price. in fact I changed mine 12 yrs ago with the one they offer and it works great. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Wiper-Motor-Cardone_5910005-P_1313_R%7CGRPWIPEAMS_518338170___ bigsteve Aug 23rd, 09, 07:25 PM where is the ground that connects to the wiper motor mounting grommet located? bigsteve Aug 29th, 09, 07:31 PM Now that I have the cowl panel off should I use any type of lube or grease on the 3 ball pivots on the wiper linkage? KevinW Aug 30th, 09, 07:19 AM where is the ground that connects to the wiper motor mounting grommet located? The upper most grommet has the brass ground contact. A ring goes under the grommet and the tab is sandwiched between the wiper halves. bigsteve Aug 30th, 09, 02:22 PM So the ground sounds like a factory instalation not a back yard mechanic job. KevinW Aug 30th, 09, 02:52 PM So the ground sounds like a factory instalation not a back yard mechanic job. Correct, ground strap is done at the manfacturer. bigsteve Aug 30th, 09, 06:59 PM What other ground does the wiper system have, does the wiper switch have a metal bracket with a ground ? Also should I lube the ball pivots with greas or something? KevinW Aug 30th, 09, 08:21 PM Steve, the wiper circuits have been gone over many times in this forum, try some searches. Basically, the motor get 12V all the time and the on/off, speeds and park are done through the grounds. If you dont have all the grounds working (motor and switch) you get weird results. I would lube the balls a little with spray lithium. bigsteve Sep 3rd, 09, 05:26 PM I just got in my engine wire harness from M&H and would like to know what connectors attach to the wiper motor. 1 has 3 wires to the connector and the other has 2. I'm not sure what one goes to the motor and what goes to the washer and what direction it connect . if anyone has a picture of could tell me what direction the connect that would be great. Also what is the position park? bigsteve Sep 6th, 09, 02:13 PM can anyone answer this question? 1969ProStreetCamaro Sep 6th, 09, 02:23 PM I just got in my engine wire harness from M&H and would like to know what connectors attach to the wiper motor. 1 has 3 wires to the connector and the other has 2. Electrical connections on my '69........hope this helps as I didn't see what year Camaro you have. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff229/1969ProStreetCamaro/IMG_0041.jpg 2 wire connector is the washer pump(which I don't have installed yet:o). David F. bigsteve Sep 6th, 09, 06:10 PM Thats exactly what I'm looking for....Thanks!! bigsteve Sep 7th, 09, 08:13 AM does anyone know it the square 3 nut plates on the fire wall that the wiper motor connect to can be purchesed aftermarket? I have one theat the bolt snaped in and when I tried to remove the broken bolt the nut plate poped out. The hole looks perfect all i need is the replacement nut plate. also I have installed a rebuilt wiper motor cleaned the black ground wire at the dash netal connection with the switch in placed with no screws attaching it at this time and have nothing. do I need to remove the grounding bracket to clean it also? Is it common for the wiper motor switch to go bad? Is there a way to repair the 3 plastic mounting tabs on the dash that the switch connects too? 1969ProStreetCamaro Sep 7th, 09, 06:39 PM does anyone know it the square 3 nut plates on the fire wall that the wiper motor connect to can be purchesed aftermarket? I guess you could say you have a 50% chance of either the switch or the motor going bad....how "common" it is .....I don't know:o. As far as the broken plastic tabs, you could possibly try "Gorilla Glue", it works very good. Just be sure not to over apply it...as it "sets" the glue expands and will cover areas that you didn't intend to cover. David F. bigsteve Sep 19th, 09, 10:10 AM OK, looks like I have the wipers working now. It looks like the old wiper motor was bad and then the fuse burnt out. Thought I would be getting a inspection sticker today but now I have electrical issues. Could someone tell me where the grounds are for the wire harness? KevinW Sep 19th, 09, 12:11 PM Could someone tell me where the grounds are for the wire harness? Which harness? 1st gens have 5. :) bigsteve Sep 19th, 09, 05:42 PM Where is the trunk harness ground located? And how many grounds does the center counsel have, I found one with 2 black wires attached at the sheet metal screwed to the floor near the shifter. KevinW Sep 19th, 09, 08:08 PM Trunk harness has one right by the plug for the fuel gauge, not sure about the console. |
