Trying to figure out what that eight ball looking componant on the passenger side of the firewall is. It has 2 vacuum lines, 1 through the firewall and one to the intake??????

79 berlinetta, 305 w/auto trans. Have not gotten under dash yet. Just wondering if I can plug it or hook it op to a vacuum.

its a vacuum actuator that stores vacuum that operates the different dampers on the hvac system

It is a vacuum canister/ball for your Air Conditioning and hook up to the a/c heat control inside. It helps move the flaps for heat or air and floor, upper vents and defrost. It needs a vacuum source from your intake manifold.

Bingo. Keep that bad boy on there, or your heater vents wont work I know first hand.

You shouldn't take the canister out. Your car has a non-vented cap on the fuel tank. The fuel tank vents gas fumes through the canister, and then to your carb where they can be burned.
