I have a DSE battery mount which will be in the trunk. I plan to put Dynamat and Carpet in the trunk. What works and looks the best? Mount the battery on top of carpet , If I do this do I need to make a solid bottom for the battery mount so it won't sink into the carpet. Or do I mount it on the trunk pan and have the carpet fitted around the battery mount?

Yes, I've done it.

I just bolted the DSE mount right to the carpet into the floor and then made a particle board cover.

The Optima battery won't leak.
